Ziggy 11,840
It's the lyrics. The beat is amazing, her vocals are solid, but them lyrics are *so* corny and the features don't help all that much as they aren't really saying anything of substance. Imo just listen to it for a fun, danceable song with a good beat but don't look too much into it because you won't find anything

VOLANTIS 16,406
Because while 2short and Twista goes AWWWF on the song, Gaga’s lines are corny and just terrible. The song could have been something better. The trio could have worked around to fix it. The production is great though. I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half
JazzGa 14,621
JnD is one of my least favorite Gaga tracks so I guess I am a good person to answer this thread Sorry I don't usually like to drag Gaga's stuff but since u asked... The main thing I don't like about JnD is that it's trend-hopping. To me, instead of sounding like a Gaga song, it sounds like a Gaga-pretending-to-be-someone-else-and-trying-to-keep-up-with-the-kids song. I'm not saying Gaga has to stay in the dancepop box of course, I think Joanne's country and folk inspirations and some of her other hip hop inspired songs still sound "Gaga". She collaborated with a bunch of rappers that seemed like a random selection with no connection to Gagz, maybe they were in Chicago and recording in the area at the same time as her, or maybe DJWS was friends with them and called em up? I dunno. The collaboration doesn't feel organic, it feels like someone else picked out the rappers for the track or maybe they were just selected from convenience idk. Sonically, I don't understand the narrative or theme of the song. Gaga's verses are about family, one verse is about a drug deal and posers who think they're hard, another verse is about being a celebrity and partying, and the other verse is about seducing Gaga? None of the verses seem to go together, they all seem random like they all pre-wrote some bars then Gaga's producer called em up and was like "ay u got some bars for this Gaga song?" and they were like "ya here u go, I wrote this a few months ago". (That's what I don't like about R Kelly's part in DWUW [one of my fav songs] as well, the lyrical content has nothing to do with the rest of the song like it was written without even meeting or collaborating with Gaga) IDK although I like the parts of the song separately, when it all comes together it's just cheesy. I think the production is pretty great actually, I like DJWS's EDM take on trap. And I think the hook, "slap honey on a young pancake", is catchy and absurd and great in classic Gaga fashion. Well anyways there ya go, I hope no one decides to quote me and argue with me on this cuz you did ask why people don't like the song so ya there u go My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
TheSlash 14,539
I can agree with all of you. I'm not a fan of hip-hop or rap (not even close ) but I was positively curious how it would sound. And it sounds great. The instrumentals are fantastic . What I don't like about this song are the features. There is just too many of them. It's Gaga's song so I usually except her to shine from start to finish. But in this case she sounded "irrelevant" to me, tbh (please don't drag me for that ). As if it was just a random collab between some befriended musicians/artists. Ew, David!

Benji 20,113
The lyrics are monotonous. It's like Gaga said "let's make a rap track" and when thinking about lyrics they said "let's just take every stereotype about rap music and make a song about it but it can't have any real edge to it or irony, it's got to be just stereotypes and that's it" The instrumental is amazing but the rest of it is cringey. I mean it's not terrible, but I prefer her doing other types of songs. Also, I'm a bit annoyed that JND made the album, but some other, in my opinion better, songs didn't make it. I would've preferred to see "Brooklyn Nights" there, and maybe "I Wanna Be With You" as a bonus track This. I’ve always found rap features odd tbh

I guess I would say I enjoy duets (Hey Girl, Beautiful People Beautiful Problems, all of C2C) but not features. It had 0 relation to the song.
