ApplauseftAdele 4,730
Please don't be offended if I didn't include your fave! So theres kinda a mindset on this website that Gaga was the most recent icon in music history. I believe this is pretty true, no artist since Gaga has achieved the pop culture impact that she had. Today's artists are fairly boring - most of them can't dance AND sing, and pretty much all have generic, forgettable songs. But which of today's artists do you think have the most potential for Gaga's impact? Spoiler My choice is The Weeknd or Dua Lipa. The weeknd serves BOPS (listen to "I Feel It Coming" if you havent!!! Its such a freaking bop ), has a specific aesthetic/niche unique to him (dark r&b, drugs, sex, etc), and serves great music videos and aesthetics in his work. He has talent and his voice is quite recognizable. Dua Lipa also has her own style and aesthetic, which is important to maintaining success these days. She has her edgy high fashion squad-type thing going on in all her videos, and she definitely has the edginess and confidence to have success and grow a fanbase. Also, she has some bops (Thinkin Bout You, New Rules) and videos that are, quality wise, better composed than many of today's artists.

homomo 23,883
I don’t know how popular Dua Lipa is in Europe, but she’s completely irrelevant here in North America. 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111
tomsches 17,443
Well, none of the artists is really "iconic" with regard to what the word actually means in the field of cultural studies. But according the GGD-definition of "iconic", probably Miley Cyrus.
T3ARS 4,132
No one lmao It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. - Audre Lorde
tthen 4,621
Only person I like from that list is Lorde The rest annoy me My personal fave and icon is Adele, but she isn't a performer. She's a singer/vocalist and doesn't dance. I don't know if I can say that she impacted culture. She's definitely huge and has lots of achievements under her belt though. Sneaky Oliver 22,236
I think Gaga and Katy were the last great pop artists. The new generation is quite boring to me. Miley is very talented and impactful but she was in this business way before Gaga I think

The Child 18,997
Honestly Miley Cyrus & Nicki Minaj. 2013 & 2014 were respectively their years. Wrecking Ball is iconic and so is Anaconda. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
