Is "Dua Lipa" the best thing since The Fame?

It's a good album and New Rules is definitely a great video, but no. The Fame was a far bigger experience. Lady Gaga embodied the album everywhere she went. Dua Lipa just isn't that album or artist yet.

She's not like Gaga at all and that's great! She's not aiming to be like other pop girls in my eyes. She's something new and interesting to watch and listen to :hor:

Yes, you're definitely right. I hope my post didn't come off as taking a dig at Dua. I love Dua Lipa, it's clear her aesthetic and music is not very comparable to Lady Gaga, which is why I found the comparison odd! Dua is very different (in a good way) and understated, which is clearly hard to compare to Gaga during her The Fame era.

yeah, but you aren't going to see people dressing up as Dua Lipa for Halloween at the end of the month.

No.

gaga had like three singles within 2 months of eachother.

Gaga almost blew up out of no where with decent music.

yes they did. the point is that's it's ridiculous to assume stuff like that. atrl still has its archives, you can go see for yourself how people were saying the exact same thing when just dance was just beginning to climb, and in canada that is. half a year after its release. did you think gaga happened overnight?

People have said the same about many different artists.

I remember Tove Lo was the next pop queen on this site and now she’s fallen into oblivion almost (although I still love her new stuff). Just because Gaga had that criticism and became a star doesn’t mean everyone else who has it is going to get it

i know that, and if you actually read what i posted i said i don't believe dua lipa is anywhere near the fame in terms of innovation and impact (in fact i was the first person to click excuse me no on the op lol). but there's a huge difference between not being the next the fame, and dua being "overrated and a one hit wonder with only one moderate hit" which is the post i was replying to (and then you said something about halloween costumes which still has nothing to do with the post i was quoting).

dua is as likely to be successful as she is not, and saying she is a one hit wonder when her "hit" hasn't even peaked yet is downright ignorant

Can we talk about this slayage

For a debut album I think it's pretty great, I know it need time to shine.

I mean I didn't remember someone on debut album been so confident and electrifying since the fame gaga. Even pop girls demi selena not come close.

When talk about impact etc etc, she even starting to breakout. Of course it hasn't have much impact.

She might have a great future ahead.

She's had quite a few hits in the UK though, Hotter Like Hell, Blow Your Mind and Be The One all did well here. And everyone knows we are always first to recognise talent :reductive: I'm looking at you Florence, Adele, Amy, Little Mix and the list goes on
