The question is whether or not people at a country music festival would agree to talk about gun control. Honestly, I doubt they'd be willing to.

Honestly, I have a hunch that a large chunk of republicans and conservatives would be willing to risk their lives, and even the lives of their children (as evident from the Sandy Hook massacre), in order to “protect” their guns

Nnnnn if Trump’s administration really gave a single f*ck about citizens’ lives, they’d do something about our current gun legislation. Not to mention properly helping PR, too. They, along with people like you who propagate this outrageously inaccurate bullsh*t, are the butt end of the joke that is the US :toofunny:

Oh, they would. For them it's all about blaming minorities and not guns or white people.

Which countries?

Homicides involving guns are down in both the USA and Australia if you track over the past decades.

This whole issue would probably be forwarded a lot faster if people realized that the debate isn't about guns but about American values. One value that many Americans hold very dearly is the opportunity to overthrow a tyrannical government and individualism. The gun debate is a threat to said ability to control the government if it begins to work against the people and when you have fear mongering propaganda from Fox News and an education system that only teaches children about the glory of the American revolution for 6 years straight while neglecting world history then, yeah, this is what happens. At the very cornerstone of American culture is "freedom" and it is a commonly held belief that America is the "freest" nation on Earth (according to what we've been taught). As such, we very arrogantly see ourselves as defenders of freedom. So gun legislation, to those who are against it, is really an attack on one of the core values of American life. It's not a logical debate like dems and liberals paint it to be; if it were then there would be no debate at all. It's an emotional debate on the part of conservatives, and the disconnect between both sides of the debate is why it isn't going anywhere. No one is thinking on the same terms, facts look different to one side vs. the other, etc.

Very well said :applause:

"There's a time and place for a political debate...", alright, then when is it? When this is the 273rd shooting in 2017, something must be down about this. This is the the biggest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, something needs to be done, we cant' just stand around and hope it gets better. How many more times does **** like this need to happen before we get something done?

273 this year??? Wow I'm shocked

Yeah, that's not a fact :rip:

Not true:

The N.R.A.’s biggest asset isn’t cash but the devotion of its members. Adam Winkler, a law professor at U.C.L.A. and the author of the 2011 book “Gunfight,” told me, “N.R.A. members are politically engaged and politically active. They call and write elected officials, they show up to vote, and they vote based on the gun issue.” In one revealing study, people who were in favor of permits for gun owners described themselves as more invested in the issue than gun-rights supporters did. Yet people in the latter group were four times as likely to have donated money and written a politician about the issue.

I agree!

Do they have high gun crime because they have the strict laws? Or do they have the strict laws because they have high gun crime?

Goosey, there are people ****ing dying. So take your head off of your obviously backward ideas and have some logic and compassion.

this is the state of grace, this is the worthwhile fight

I love how this cartoon tries to portray the Trump adminstration as humble people mourning the deaths of their oh-dearly beloved citiziens :smh:
