GeeYewWhai 2,382
Ok. Shouldn't it be "you and I could write a bad romance" not "you and me..." Was singing to Bad Romance the other day and it kinda hit me... ""Consider the following sentence: You and I should have lunch. Is the correct form of this sentence You and I ... or You and me ...? This is a common source of confusion in English. Fortunately, there's an easy way to decide whether to use I or me in such sentences. All you have to do is drop the word you then try the sentence with I and me one at a time. For example: I should have lunch. Me should have lunch. Clearly the preferred form in this case is I; thus, the original sentence was correct to use you and I."" If we apply that to the lyric... You could have a bad romance Me could have a bad romance So technically it should be You and I could write a bad romance. It doesn't sound right, but grammatically speaking it is. Maybe that's why she released You and I as a single. To cover up the mistake Also, is it "right" or "write" a bad romance? Enigma popstar she is. Gagadonna 10,801
Pop Music is known for being agrammatical sometimes It's just a matter of sonorities
calmar 22,055
I mean it's kind of prescriptivist to say it's "grammatically incorrect" based on a set of artificial constraints placed on English in primary education systems which ultimately derive from a set of guidelines to be imposed based on what was or wasn't correct in Latin, a completely different language from English. Unfortunately, languages don't work that way, and English, if instead considering 'correct grammar' to be what is intelligible and productive in native speech, instead allows for the use of non-subject pronominal forms when they are concatenated to another noun phrase with and, even if that noun phrase is in subject position. 俺の勝利は揺るぎない

FATCAT 60,003
Actually no, the full sentence is: "I want your love and I want your revenge, you and me could write a bad romance" It's okay to use you and me later in a sentence.
