There is no way this is some deranged shooting out of jealousy or whatever. Whether he is right wing or left wing, it doesn’t matter, he should be called a terrorist. Trump’s response is also very telling. Before it was known who the shooter was, Twitter was full of “Muslim terror” fake news. If the shooter was black who liked BLM related pages on Facebook, he would be a called terrorist. One thing is for sure, no one who looks like (or has the name similar to) the shooter has to worry tomorrow that they will be labeled and harassed or even killed because of this case. If he has a political motive he will be called a terrorist despite his religion or skin color. A terrorist sure can have mental illnesses, but this won't change the fact if it was a terrorist attack or not. In Hamburg there was a knife attack of a guy with mental illnesses and he swore loyalty to ISIS. He was called a terrorist rightfully. In Wuppertal was a stabbing done by two refugee guys. They are not terrorists, but criminals because it happened due to indifferences with other people. Racial profiling and hate crimes are another thing you mention in the last sentence. There's a reason no news channel is calling it terrorism and that's because a motive hasn't been found. IF the ISIS claim is real then it will be a terror attack. EDIT: Stephen Paddock's brother, Eric Paddock, has made a statement to police and does not know of any potential motives his brother may have had.
