But I still love it and you can really appreciate how toned-down her vocals are given the subject matter. So it doesn't bother me. She was emotional recording the song (I think they did it in one take and it was an early take as well), so I imagine she was stuffed up a bit from tears or trying to hold them back. So, like she said Tony told her to do on Lush Life, she put her feelings into her singing rather than crying. So it has this softer, less refined quality to it as a result.
