The two extremely personal and emotional performances from Ms Mariah Carey

I just adore Ms Mariah Carey tbh. A talented singer and song-writer. These two songs are my favorite Mariah tracks. So much emotion and truth in her lyrics.

'Close My Eyes' is Ms Mariah's personal favorite from her entire discography (amongst others of course). It is about her childhood, her first marriage and dealing with people turning their back on her.

 

'Petals' is about her sister Alison ('Dandelion') who has had drug issues in the past and presently, as well as being involved with prostitution and not being very nice about Mariah publicly. It seems Mariah has had to cut her sister out of her life as Alison in particular seemed to keep appearing for interviews to constantly bash Mariah whenever Alison was in need of cash. It's quite a sad story I think. Also, this song mentions her first marriage again, as well as her love for her first husband's children ("little sis, and little brother"). Possibly her most personal song to date?

Im always on the record as saying PETALS is, no doubt, my fave Mariah song of all time.  It's gorgeous, sweet, sad, haunting, mysterious, breathtaking...it's everything!

Mariah is actually underrated I feel.

People are too busy bashing her to realize just how amazing her voice WAS and STILL is. She has a voice like no other. And her song-writing skills are excellent. I mean that second verse on We Belong Together alone is grammy-worthy

I still am. That and Faded just hits me every time. I hope she's still releasing her new album. It's supposed to be released around this time or early next year right? Pull thru Mimiii
