As a Muslim Arab who grew up in the UAE, I (among countless other Arabs) looked towards the West for inspirations of freedom, equality and progressiveness. I guess I was wrong. As if you would find an "inspiration of freedom, equality and progressiveness" anywhere in the bloody Middle East! Just because there was a neo-Nazi march in Sweden, this country is certainly still 100 times more "civilised" and "developped" than any Arab country. And talking about development... just don’t mention decades of non-stop war and bombs, something Western Europeans didn’t have to deal with for some time. (Also, gj ignoring the Arab Spring, Mashroui Leila's and countless Lebanese's support for progressiveness and the dozens of activism that take place in some ME countries) Western countries have the power of freedom of speech and they use it to spread hate?
