MaryJaneHolland 77,348
Promo singles have been fücking up the singles run for three albums now. Should she stop releasing them and focus only on singles?
VOLANTIS 16,406
Let me get this straight.. (as straight as a hunty can get) Million Reasons, the original Promo single went onto be the highlight of the era.. So this is against A-Yo? What she do? 9 minutes ago, MaryJaneHolland said: Promo singles have been fücking up the singles run for three albums now. Should she stop releasing them and focus only on singles? There's been only 2 singles. I just don't fully understand your point. I'm sorry. Sneaky Oliver 22,219
DWUW and Million Reasons were promo singles at first and very successful. Dope made it to the hot100 top 10 and Hair almost did (#12) I think. So no, her promo singles are strong and some of them kinda saved the era commercially wise

Hair did great promo. TEOG smashed hard as a single. What happened in the ARTPOP era wasn't because she switched dwuw and Venus. If she released dwuw as a promo single and Venus as a single it would have been a hit. Releasing venus (and dope) as a promo single and choosing dwuw didn't do her any damage. The dwuw mess had to do with Gaga + her Team choosing the wrong collaborator for the song and the wrong ideas for the music video and having to eventually bury it in the end. Haroon 49,685
Yeah I mean that from a music video perspective, I don't really care about the commercial performance side of it
Ziggy 11,870
Yes 100% because it keeps ****ing up singles. When you're making strategy behind an album roll-out, you shouldn't have to think which should be promo singles vs. actual singles. The concept doesn't even make all that much sense as singles should be what are promoting the album. There are loads of missed opportunities in her discography because they made promo singles out of songs with single potential. Beautiful, Dirty, Rich, Dance in the Dark, The Edge of Glory, DWUW, A-YO and Million Reasons. It's absolute insanity that so many great album highlights of hers that have actually done remarkably well on their own were hindered by either being promo singles or being switched from promo singles to actual singles. The funny thing is, promo singles seem to work fine for other pop artists as they never put their most strong work in the promo category, but Gaga and Interscope *keep* doing that. For her specifically, I think she really ought to just drop the concept entirely as it really just makes every era of hers just a little bit more messy than it needs to be. Sit down when the songs are done and pick singles. That's it, plain and simple(r). Obviously be flexible if things change like an injury on Gaga's part, but have a sketched out promo plan ahead of time. I sincerely hope Interscope doesn't view her as a commercial flop when she could be raking in even more if they didn't keep cutting her at the ankles just before release. holy scheisse 22,275
Yup remember when she almost wasted the edge of glory as a promo single? Or when she put out hair when it should've been a surprise when the album dropt Or how she almost made do what u want a promo single but her team was clearly bling not the music and switched it up cause Venus wasn't as popular .. They're always messes. I like when albums are dropped and I know nothing about it but that lead single. But that's just me and that's also not common I guess. ArtGagaPop 61,940
Yes yes and yes. They always choice bad promo singles and seem like they have no plan for actual singles. TEOG, highlight of the album released as a promo single instead of a offical single and then they rushed it mid judas era with no video ready. DWUW released as promo before offical single venus. Dwuw pushed as a single instead and everything planed for Venus had to be scrapped while DWUW promo and video got rushed leading to a video they didn't even want to release For MR it should been the obvious 2nd single released with video ready during the dive bar tour and a radio deal. Instead it got pushed to radio to late meaning no single on radio during joanne debut week and the video, something very important for streams these days came 2 months after the song, way to late. Thank god for superbowl otherwise her best ballad and the potential of MR had been forgotten and wasted already.
