Benji 20,113
The article presents this information in kind of a negative way when it's actually a positive. Artists now know their audience better than ever, it's up to them if they want to please the audience they've gained or not. Also, I think people having so much choice is what is driving pop artists to really create something catchy in the first thirty seconds. If nothing grabs me in a new song that I'm streaming, I skip forward a bit looking for something... if nothing happens then I won't listen to it again. Is this bad? Not really, I can just find music I like quicker. Also, I don't think the whispering / mumbling vocals in pop music is just because of streaming. People have always listened to slower music with these vocals but it's normally reserved for private listening. Now streams are recorded, the industry can see that people enjoy it so pop music is using it and it's become a trend. The trend will pass, like every other.
