Russia bought BLM ads during 2016 election

At least one of the Facebook ads bought by Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign referenced Black Lives Matter and was specifically targeted to reach audiences in Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, sources with knowledge of the ads told CNN.

Ferguson and Baltimore had gained widespread attention for the large and violent protests over police shootings of black men. The decision to target the ad in those two cities offers the first look at how accounts linked to the Russian government-affiliated troll farm known as the Internet Research Agency used geographically targeted advertising to sow political chaos in the United States, the sources said.

The Black Lives Matter ad appeared on Facebook at some point in late 2015 or early 2016, the sources said. The sources said it appears the ad was meant to appear both as supporting Black Lives Matter but also could be seen as portraying the group as threatening to some residents of Baltimore and Ferguson. 

New descriptions of the Russian-bought ads shared with CNN suggest that the apparent goal of the Russian buyers was to amplify political discord and fuel an atmosphere of incivility and chaos, though not necessarily to promote one candidate or cause over another. Facebook's review of Russian efforts on its platform focused on a timeframe from June 2015 to May 2017.

These ranged from posts promoting Black Lives Matter to posts promoting gun rights and the Second Amendment to posts warning about what they said was the threat undocumented immigrants posed to American democracy. Beyond the election, Russians have sought to raise questions about western democracies.

OK... but Russia did in fact do this, so how it it fake news? 

BLM hardliners did not and do not support Clinton. The ads were made to make BLM look scary to white moderates and conservatives (which it kinda is).

All Putin cared about is that Clinton would to be elected because she has always been hard with him from first lady to Secretary of State. Trump + associates on the other hand have been talking about REDUCING sanctions on Russia despite confirming this week that they hacked the election systems of 21 states at least...

By the way, "Russia" did not need to do anything to convince America that BLM is dangerous. BLM did that all on their own, when their members outright murdered five police officers with sniper rifle in Dallas, Texas. So don't tell me that "Russia" is responsible for that.

BLM "members" did not murder the five police officers in Dallas. A single shooter, who was not associated with BLM, shot the police officers. Leaders associated with the Black Lives Matter movement, including organizers of the protest rally, condemned the shooting.

It's interesting how I stated that liberal arguments consist of mainly personal attacks, and then all three of you proceeded to personally attack me.

Especially user "Whispering," who has been following me around the forum without contributing anything. 

My point here is that BLM is a terrorist organization. It's extremely clear that the Dallas shooter was acting as a result of BLM activities, and that's not the only example of major violence stemming from BLM. More deaths and violence have occurred within the United States from BLM than from ISIS - and that's just a fact, as there are more BLM members here than ISIS sympathizers. The organization itself obviously does not intend to promote physical violence against whites, but that's exactly what happens. That's the argument of the left - that intent is what matters. No, intent does not matter in this context. Outcomes matter, especially when the underlying reasons are highly debatable (such as the ambiguous police shootings), and especially when its motivated politically to race-bait and find racial problems in literally everything. Statistics matter. Blanket statements and hyperbole do not mean squat. Level of outrage does not give justification to an idea or a point when there's little to nothing to back it up. It's alarming how so many people don't find it at least curious that the Democrats ONLY talk about race, as though there is this hidden racist intent behind every Republican action, and any time blacks are elevated by Republicans, Democrats say it's just to "throw people off." It's absurd. I was a Democrat because of gay rights but this election really showed me how the Democrats are the problem. They control the electorate by creating a problem, blaming the problem on the other side, finding extremely weak points to justify that conclusion, and then saying that they're the only side that can fix the problem they created, and no amount of "excuse me no's" or personal insults will change that fact.
