venusfly 17,885
There is nothing bad about kneeling during the national anthem I think. The main argument against it is that kneeling for the anthem apparently disrespects those who have served and died for the country to maintain its freedom. However though, if people truly served and died to protect the freedom of the country then wouldn't they also back the idea of people being able to speak out against injustices? Old white america seems to love throwing the freedom of speech/expression card around until it's something that targets white America. People saying that kneeling during the flag is off limits are contradicting what it means to live in a free country, you can't say people died for freedom and should be respected and bash people for expressing their opinion in the same statement. Especially when people are kneeling because people's rights are being infringed upon.

It's a peaceful protest. ❤ x ❤
Supersonic 49,376
The kneeling represents visible protest against police brutality and racism within the jurisdication the United States. From the viewpoint of a decent human being, it's a nice gesture. From the viewpoint of a Republican, it's treason because ThE PoLiCe nEvAHr CoUlD dO WrOnG!!!!!
