Taking Taylor as an example is so funny of you. First of all, she was never pure country except for her 1st album. She was country-pop and slowly transitioned to pop-country in Red and fully transitioned in 1989. Her music's roots and melodies are still similar. Switching from country to mainstream pop allows her to gain more audience so her increasing sales is not surprising at all.

Gaga switched from electronic dance pop to americana-folk-rock-country which first of all, doesn't really appeal to her old fans at all. Secondly, she hasn't released something in 3 years and a sudden change of genre is definitely going to alienate old fans.

I've noticed that you've been criticising Gaga for no reason lately. If you don't like Gaga's latest music so much since ARTPOP, why don't you take some time off and wait until she releases good music in your opinion.
