Giorno Giovanna 3,178
Labor Pains: 6/10 A comedy about a woman who tricks her boss into believing she's pregnant in order to keep her job. She intends on telling the truth shortly after, but when she becomes inundated with generous gifts and promotions at work she tries to keep the lie going for the whole 9 months. It's nothing special, but it doesn't try to be. There's a few good laughs in there. The storyline is predictable but it's enjoyable to watch it play out. Lindsay's pretty good in it considering her life at the time, but then again her role isn't particularly challenging. Supporting cast includes Bridgit Mendler, Cheryl Hines, Luke Kirkby, Ana Ortiz, Chris Parnell, Tracee Ellis Ross, Aaron Yoo, Kevin Covais, Willie Garson, and Bonnie Somerville. I read it as 'Labor Penis' but since LiLo acts in it I'll give it a try :) このジョルノジョヴァンナ夢がある

Chuckles 2,549
The Amazing Spider-Man - 8/10 Nowhere as good as the hype. I don't get why people were saying this was better than original Spider-Man trilogy, its on par tbh. I was kinda skeptical about Andrew Garfield being Spider-Man but he was actually pretty great, his accent was s-xy and his acting was wonderful. I don't get why he had to use that device to make webs, isn't Spider-Man suppose to be able to that by himself? It took away from the movie in my opinion. In the comics, Peter Parker develops "web-shooters" which are the devices Andrew Garfield makes for his wrists while in the first trilogy Tobey Maguire has this feature let's say "inherited" from spiders

n0ne 13,105
The Raid Redemption - 9/10 The martial arts and fight choreography was AMAZEballs and the violence, though uncomfortable at times, was strikingly enticing and entertaining. The acting and story weren't too extraordinary but still pretty developed. "My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Miel 15,009
9/10 -spoiler tho-// A truly breathtaking movie. Well, in context, at least. Evil Dead is a remake/reboot/loose continuation of the original The Evil Dead, and goodness is it in love with the original. The whole film is like a giant love letter to not just the original, but all ultra-gory cabin horror films in general. What makes it more than just a love letter, though, is that it's able to stand as its own entity, separate from the original. The plot depicts five friends (David, friend Elizabeth, sister Mia, friend Olivia, and girlfriend Natalie) who stay at a cabin to help addict Mia overcome her opiate addiction cold turkey. When something is released from the depths of the woods and begins attacking them, they are torn between viewing the situation as something logical and frightening (Mia's emotional instability and withdrawal symptoms), or something much more malevolent. The plotline is actually very interesting and a bit layered. While the original plays on a sense of broad interpretive storytelling (which makes the benevolence of the attacks all the more terrifying), this film subverts it and throws in a relatively heavy plotline (even if much is only implied). The subplots include issues with d--g addiction and mental illness, while the main plot deals with the effects of all those in dealing with the, erm, bloody situation. And boy is it bloody (one scene in particular used about 50k gallons of blood). Yep, it's an extremely bloody movie. While much of the movie does throw to the viewers a vast amount of heavy gore, the most cringe-worthy scenes in the film are actually relatively subtle. And that makes it that much worse (seriously, eye syringe? nail gun accidents? shower burns? yikes). The scares in the film are relentless in that it doesn't rely on just heavy gore, or subtle nerve-scratching- it uses both, and to very heavy extremes. These scares, the sadistic nature of the deaths, all are taken very seriously and that kind of makes it drab and depressing (it works). Unlike the original trilogy, this film doesn't really hold any sort of comical nature up until the very end (and even then it's very extreme in nature, a lot more of a referencial nod than an actual play of laughs). And while the scares itself don't remain that much frightening by the end (I call this personal desensitizing via continuous barrage of sadistic character torture for two hours), it does complete an impressive feat by remaining relatively intense and on the edge. Even in the end. The characters themselves are much, much more fleshed out in the original. Though, the characterization of the characters seem a bit wishy washy. On one hand, it seems as though the writing of them is trying to lead towards the characterization of the original (stock characters, in my opinion), while also trying to flesh them out as fully dimensional characters. In hindsight, it actually worked out pretty well; all the characters, no matter how dumb their decisions are in the midst of crisis, really are portrayed as human. Except maybe Natalie. Poor Natalie, Elizabeth Blackmore really portrayed her well enough, though her writing seemed so filler. Her coming back as a deadite was pretty interesting, though. In terms of cinematography, it's one of the most well done I've seen in a horror film in a long time. While utilizing Raimi's technique of forest beaming form the original, Fede Alvarez really brings something special with his direction. There are some pretty breathtaking wide shots, from a landscape pan to the inner walls of the cabin. The final scene in particular really utilizes all this in a more ridiculous context. And it works. It's a great movie. A perfect movie, probably not. It's not one of those Oscar bait movies and it knows it (wouldn't that be awesome, though?). It plays to its audience while remaining faithful in its own sense. For a gore-rror movie, it's one of the best, and definitely an impressive and satisfying new addition in the Evil Dead universe. Kudos to all the actors (specifically Jane Levy) for putting up a damn good performance. Everything is well done enough that I can actually call it breathtaking in its own context. Maybe I'm just still pumped up from watching it. I will feast on your soul! Feast on this, motherf*cker! *chainsaws to death amidst a blood storm, rather romantically* 3 points in and ready for more
