n0ne 13,105 Posted February 21, 2013 Share Posted February 21, 2013 The Adventures of Tintin - 9.5/10 Everything about this film was exceptional especially the animation/art direction; the sequencing just seemed to flow effortlessly. This action-adventure animated film gives Hollywood blockbuster action films a run for their money with it's phenomenal action cinematography and pacing. It was like if Uncharted ( the Playstation 3 video game series) were made in an animated film. I will say that only thing that was a negative was that sometimes it was hard to understand how things tied together or how the backstory was involved. "My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Everything happens and then suddenly we move on to the next scene. Admittedly there were a couple of scenes that made me chuckle a little bit, but the cringe-worthy use of "the government" not being able to protect its citizens and all this political nonsense was just ugh. Also, for no reason at all, two of the main characters start to argue and fall apart, but of course, predictably they make amends and come together once again. The laws of physics are also broken here and its just ridiculous- not Danny Trejo-kind of ridiculousness, but the mundane sort that just makes you face palm. The cinematography and deliberately slow pace made me feel at times removed/detached when I wanted to connect, but at the same time the slow pacing really fit the film. I do recommend it, and congrats to Amour for wining Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars last night! An absolute ****ing masterpiece. Just amazing. 10/10.
