The performances and the outrageous plot/script create a great modern action comedy. I think a main reason why the film works, is because it just focuses on James and Seth characters and their chemistry, with everything else just supporting. It's the same model that prevailed and made Pineapple Express a hit as opposed the ensemble comedy, This is the End (which I didn't find as good nor as hilarious). They keep thinking up new things for sequels; making it fresh. I also like how they tied in the first movie along with another sequel - provides continuity. Good popcorn flicks.
