A Muslim doctor was stabbed in the neck outside a mosque last night in what police have described as a hate crime.

Two men, aged 54 and 32, have been arrested in connection with the attack, which took place shortly before 6pm outside a mosque in the market town of Altrincham, Greater Manchester.

Nasser Kurdy, a 58-year-old consultant orthopaedic surgeon, was arriving at the Altrincham Islamic Centre for evening prayers when he was approached from behind and stabbed in the neck. His attacker fled and Mr Kurdy was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital. He was discharged last night and was recovering at home with his family.

This isn’t the first time a suspected hate crime has occurred outside of a mosque in Manchester. I hope they increase security so that people can visit safely without having to worry about being harmed, or worse.
