That's not necessarily taking away guns though, only a type of firearm that civilians really shouldn't have in the first place.

It's a misconception that it's "easier" to drive the oval. It also has the advantage of being a better layout for live spectators and taking up less space. Sonoma and Watkins Glen even have right turns.

Nobody was protesting the anthem or disrespecting the flag. They were using the playing of the anthem to protest shortcomings in the implementation of the Constitution. (such as the execution of people without due process)

 

Now...since Donnie boy injected himself into this issue, it is evolving into a statement about the race-baiting President and what our bill of rights and symbols of patriotism should represent for ALL citizens.

The events in question and whether America is "racist" is up for debate, for significant reasons, as I point out in my post on page one. But that doesn't even matter to the subject at hand. Liberals are making the flag-kneeling about race, but to the soldiers it's about the country and their defense of it. The soldiers are not thinking on racial terms. They think about how they pulled over while they were in Iraq to listen to the anthem, to how they salute the flag, honor the flag, honor our country, while they fought side-by-side with their black brothers, some of whom died or were severely injured,and they did it for our country, even for people who dismiss them as uneducated heathens and don't give them any respect whatsoever (just a general statement). They don't think on racial terms, they think on American terms (although now it's racist and xenophobic to think about country). And to watch these millionaire football stars disrespect America and what they fought for and the friends they lost, as these football stars have never fought a day in their life for country, is appalling. Viewership at the NFL is down 25%, veterans are burning their football gear. Liberals try to make it about race and try to force this conversation into everything, but this is football. People are gathered for America's greatest pastime to try and forget the drudgery of daily life, not be reminded of it, and the fact that there is no end in sight for this level of disrespect (since America is not a racist country in the first place, there's no accurate way of knowing when they'll stand again), it begs the question: when will this level of identity politics end? Now they're trying to force the NFL to get Colin Kaepernick signed, when he was one of the worst quarterbacks on the field. They're trying to affect the rosters at the NFL through political correctness, not by stats, and people are sick of it. What exactly do they have to back this level of outrage up? Refer back to page one and all of the points that liberals for some reason just outright ignore. There are countless deaths a day in the U.S., 6775 per day to be exact. And yet somehow, these three or four police shootings, under foggy circumstances at best, are somehow proof of institutional racism, and justify riots, deaths, attacking white people(remember the video of white people marching in support of black people, and the black girl said, "Get whitey!" And viciously beat them?). Liberals expect level of outrage to give merit to the core concept, and that's just not the case. Again, if someone points to a specific instance of racism, 99% of the country will stand in support. But shouting institutional racism does nothing to solve anything and only serves to dish out this mindset that America is a racist country when that is not at all the case.

I'm afraid you are taking the action of kneeling the wrong way. You think it's a sign of disrespect, but the truth of the matter is that it's a sign of mourning. Technically, yes, it isn't standing for our flag, and can be seen as disrespectful, but that's like hearing the song PokerFace and thinking its about a game of Poker. The fact is that those kneeling are still acknowledging the flag and the pledge, they aren't flat out ignoring it, which is truly disrespectful. Instead, it's a sign that they love this country, and respect those who have fought for it, but also recognize that we have major issues in our system that need to be addressed. They mourn not only for the victims of oppression, but also for the ideals they held for our society
