Luxe Ford 3,481
The man upstairs? Certainly not. *If* there is a god it has to exist beyond gender and duality. I voted no, but I guess I'm an agnostic. I don't believe in corporate religion, but having said that I enjoy studying the Qabala, mostly as a philosophical exercise and a symbol system. According to those texts 'god' isn't within our comprehension. I could try to explain the three negative veils of existence (ain soph aur) but it will only give me a headache. There are a lot of people even in my country (the majority actually, I think even some priests) that don't understand the religious system (which is actually really logic) and this frustate me. holy scheisse 22,274
For me, there's too much going against it. 1. the fact that there are millions of religions/creation stories, and not just one of them can be true... so therefore i believe none of them to be true 2. the fact that i believe in biology. as such, i believe human evolved from more primitive species. who is to say that god crafted humans and instilled them with this divine wisdom of his presence when we havent even been around, being sentient, communicating, having imaginations to tell stories, etc. all of this time? you know what i mean? like we are not special we are just the most intelligent lifeform on earth and we happened to luck out bc all the dinosaurs who were ruling the earth went extinct. who is to say that dinosaurs in another parallel universe didnt evolve into the most advanced lifeform instead of monkeys or whatever. would god then be a dino, crafting dinos in their reflective image, bc they would be the sentient beings in that universe instead of mammalian humans? does that even make sense? anyway... 3. the fact that so much bad **** goes down in the world its like... are you fr? why is god letting all of this happen to his earth? why isnt it smiting "bad people" like he does in old tales from multiple religions? 4. there is no hard proof and i am a person of science unfortunately maybe i didnt make much sense in my rationale. its hard to communicate what exactly i mean. IF there is a god, i believe it is some entity that orchestrated the universe and created physics by design or whatever. i would like to think in a higher power, but if it exists, i don't believe it is anything that people on earth believe it to be in their organized religions. and i dont bellieve humans would be at the center of its care. in other words, i embrace the possibility of spirituality. but i reject religion, and so i am unsure if i believe in a supreme being
Alii 2,039
Not anymore. I haven`t believed in Him since I was in grade 12 and started to have doubts. I can`t believe I used to pray 5 times a day.
Guest ARTPOPSlays
I believe in God, but don't believe is a specific gender. I believe God is an energy, possibly even part of the universe. Even if God did give Mary the baby it doesn't mean God is a he as he is metephysical meaning God could be anything. I don't consider myself religious, I'm more spiritual. I practice positivity, I believe everything happens for a reason and I do lots of meditation. Although, I do still have a catholic background

codymonster 8,595
I do, and am Christian. There are many things I don't understand about it, and can't say I agree with lots of Christians. But I can't deny that God has helped me through the darkest parts of my life, and praying keeps me sane. I know that is real for me.
Stefani Gaga 3,359
I believe in God, but in my own way. Religion as it is today is everything but the actual meaning of the word. Religion is not about the clothes the priest has to wear, hate, judgement or politics, yet religion has always been like that. Religion is about having faith in a superior force or whatever it means to you. However, it is certainly not about hate unless you worship the devil. Wars have happened because of religion, people have committed crimes because of religion, people have hurt others’ feelings because of religion. And whether you are religious or not, you should accept other people’s opinions as well. You could obviously have a discussion about religion with someone and disagree, but don’t fight. In the end, who is to tell? Spoiler *Sorry for using the word religion so many times. I’m A mEsS! sTaY aWaY fRoM mE, mY eIgHt PeTs AnD mY bLuE bIsCuItS, yOu FrEaK! LadyLuca 2,550
In my opinion there is no god whatsoever I think after we die it will be the same as before we were born. There is nothing. I think god was created by humans to help with the fear and to establish rules. I am 99,9999% sure BUT I think there is a 0,00001% chance that anything else is possible. God, reincarnation, hindu- etc I dont have a proove so I cant say anything for sure...- but I belive in the unknown. There might be a reason or thing behind everything but we just dont know it yet and I refuse to belive in man kind created ideas as a place holder for the undiscoverd truth. So if anybody asks me I just say : No I dont belive in god :
StrawberryBlond 14,866
Yes, though I wouldn't call myself a Christian, as I don't follow lots of practices laid down by the religion. I don't go to church, I don't read the Bible, I don't take the Bible as the word of God, I don't insist on no sex before marriage, I don't believe in original sin, I don't believe in beating yourself up for every little 'sin' you've committed, etc. I define myself as merely a believer in God. I do pray, at least twice a day and more if my anxiety acts up. I've been doing it everyday since late 2014, without fail. They're much quicker now than they used to be however, they took up too much time before. I even do a quick little prayer for forgiveness if I've committed a minor "sin" (or sometimes I offer up an preemptive forgiveness if I'm about to do a minor sin!) I also believe that God wanted us all to get along and love one another, so I accept everyone of every religion, gender, race, age, sexual orientation. I try not to judge overly harshly for people who aren't doing anything 'wrong' as I believe it's God's place to be the ultimate judge of character. I live life according to the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you do unto yourself." And I would never force my religion upon anyone. It's a private thing and I don't want anyone to change to fit my beliefs. If you want religion in your life, you will seek it out, as I did. Being genuine in your motivations is what being a believer is all about. 32 minutes ago, holy scheisse said: For me, there's too much going against it. 1. the fact that there are millions of religions/creation stories, and not just one of them can be true... so therefore i believe none of them to be true 2. the fact that i believe in biology. as such, i believe human evolved from more primitive species. who is to say that god crafted humans and instilled them with this divine wisdom of his presence when we havent even been around, being sentient, communicating, having imaginations to tell stories, etc. all of this time? you know what i mean? like we are not special we are just the most intelligent lifeform on earth and we happened to luck out bc all the dinosaurs who were ruling the earth went extinct. who is to say that dinosaurs in another parallel universe didnt evolve into the most advanced lifeform instead of monkeys or whatever. would god then be a dino, crafting dinos in their reflective image, bc they would be the sentient beings in that universe instead of mammalian humans? does that even make sense? anyway... 3. the fact that so much bad **** goes down in the world its like... are you fr? why is god letting all of this happen to his earth? why isnt it smiting "bad people" like he does in old tales from multiple religions? 4. there is no hard proof and i am a person of science unfortunately The following answers are not to change your opinion, but rather to expand your possibilities a bit. I have a degree in religion, including Christianity, so here's my take on it... 1. That's quite valid. But I don't think it matters what version of a divine being you believe in. I believe it's all one and the same. Most of us like to believe there's a higher being of some sort out there, so what you choose to call them is up to you. Their creation story and how they created us is up to you. But if there is a supreme being up there, it wouldn't really matter what we called them or defined them. It wouldn't change the fact that they were still a supreme being. 2. I believe in God but I also believe in evolution. A lot of modern Christians do as well. No matter what the Bible taught, we cannot deny that evolution happened, dinosaurs existed and that humans have been around a lot longer than 2000 or so years, which is when the Bible states that time began. We know the planet is millions of years old and it wasn't uninhabited all that time. But this is why it's ok to not accept the Bible as the unquestioned word of God. I hold next to no stock in the Bible as a true document, especially where timelines are concerned. For all we know, the Bible is just a collection of stories some people just made up and composed in a volume and there were strict, dogmatic committees involved who decided what parts should be put in and taken out. So we will never get the whole truth anyway, if it ever existed. Most of us don't unquestionably accept the Bible, but that doesn't mean that God never existed, it just not be the Bible version of God. 3. Again, this is linked into not taking the Bible as the unquestioned word of God. It's hard to believe that a loving God would strike people down, start plagues, kill firstborns, etc. So, therefore, there's no rule that says you have to believe all this happened. I don't believe that the God I know, who gives me strength, could have done these things. Rather, these tales from the Bible were just dark morality tales to encourage people to be good, or, in the words of atheist George Carlin: "to confuse and control gullible people." It stands to reason that inventing a book of strict rules with extreme punishment for wrongdoings was the natural product of early society, when the notion of ruling and order was first coming into play. Hardly applicable today. I don't know if God's capable of making bad things happen to bad people, nor can he do anything that doesn't involve a prayer. When I've prayed, I've got what I asked for many times. When I didn't pray, it was a bit more hit and miss. And maybe God's powers to move heaven and earth ceased to be once he'd created everything? Now he can only answer so many prayers, most of them fairly minor and focused on one person (which is why we hear so many 'miracle' stories of babies being brought back from the brink after being given days to live)? And can't do big stuff like calm a rampaging storm or stop a nuclear bomb? God did design us to have free will, so it's not like he can just stop bad people and perhaps he thinks natural disasters are treated the same way? 4. I support science as well. I'm normally the first to say I won't believe in something unless there's scientific proof. Which is why I fully understand agnostic positions. However, if, just like agnostics say, there is no evidence and we never will find evidence, then what's the harm in believing, if it gives you comfort? I couldn't, for example, become a nun, thereby devoting my entire life to something that might not exist, but I don't see how I'm wasting my time by merely believing. Even if there was nothing out there, it still gives me strength and inner peace to believe, so that counts for something. Once again, believe what you want to believe, I won't force you. But as someone who's studied religion, maybe this analysis could have helped your questions a bit more.
