Yeah, this is not a good sign for the quality of the film, guys. From what I hear, the film screened for a few people several days ago as an unfinished cut. The second half is reportedly not so hot and is still being edited. But, moving a film up four months from its September bow (which likely would have come with a high profile debut at the Toronto International Film Festival) does not bode well. This means they're likely shifting their tactics to focus on making the film a commercial hit versus going for awards recognition. Cannes is a prestigious festival, but exists unto itself, and does very little to position movies in the Oscar race, at least not as much as the fall festivals like Telluride, Toronto, and Venice do. Warner Bros. does tend to debut high profile releases there, but almost always out of the main competition, just for the publicity spike it generates. Manage your expectations now, ya'll.

welp :selena:

No, but you'll never know how classics remakes with a little budget will perform nowadays. See 'It' with a $35 million budget and a Box Office score of $400+ and still counting.

IT series was already “huge” and everyone knew about it... ASIB was never HUGE lmao

Please don't tell me a Razzie is Born is coming

Thank you for posting this, but it won't go well in this forum. They'll say you're a hater and ASIB is coming for that 90 on RT.

I mean: sure its great that the movie is coming sooner b/c that means we're getting the soundtrack, trailer, etc sooner. So as fans it's nice we won't have to wait as long.

But, an earlier release means the studio has little faith it'll be an awards contender, which means they probably have little faith in the film as a whole. I personally am disappointing by this news b/c against all i odds, I was hoping it would be good, but now this seems to have confirmed the contrary.

Are you telling me they thought the Great Gatsby would be a flop :ladyhaha:

People really shouldn't speak of things when they are clueless.

''Deadline hears that Warner Bros. executives saw an early cut of the film and were blown away by Germanotta and Cooper’s sublime turns; as such they want to get the film on screens as soon as they can.''

That's actually not true. 'It' opened with 200% more than tracked. The miniseries is well known in certain markets, just like ASIB. I don't say ASIB will make that amount of money, but my point is that you can't predict the numbers anymore. You'll never know what will happen.

Thanks for the ~insider info but I would be extremely surprised if a movie originally set for release in 12 months wasn't still being edited.

Yes. Moving the release from Sept. to may means they're less interested in awards season. But that's it. I think it's worthwhile to remind everyone that original release dates are almost never set in stone, especially ones that were set so soon into production.

Anyone expecting this to be an 80 - 90% er on Rotten Tomatoes regardless of release date is kidding themselves. But none of the information release thus far means it's not going to be a decent flick.
