I can understand your thinking, but the only reason those popstars are doing features is because of $$$$$$$. The past half-a-decade in the music industry has become even more commercialised and money-grabbing than ever before. There are more rapper features, more club-friendly music, more explicit songs about s-x, more outlandish gimmicks... I'm not saying Gaga hasn't contributed to that commercialisation, but she seems to be steering away from it now that she's in a safe position.

She collaborates with mainstream artists, Beyoncé, Cher, Elton John, Marilyn Manson, and many others ARE mainstream. The difference is that she doesn't collaborate with these pop stars that are in it just for the money, like Rihanna or Katy Perry (not shading though, I'm a big fan of Riri).

She HAS done collabs in the past. But seriously, if she doesn't feel the need to collab with anyone else, I don't see why she should It is her career,s he should only collab with someone she feels is right for the song.

Katy/Nicki/Rihanna/Ke$ha are all too busy collaborating with each other, trying to grab cheap number ones. I'd rather Gaga stick with the higher rank (excluding her first album of course). Perhaps it is snobby, but I couldn't care less lol.

It could be viewed as snobby. But I like her not doing so many collabs with mainstream artists. I prefer her by herself.

I don't view it as snobby so much as her being confident enough to be a solo artist and not use other artists to compensate for a lack of talent. There was a time when it was just rap albums that had lots of features. Nowadays, pop artists use feature after feature to get high charting singles. Katy Perry practically embodied the term "Rent a Rapper" with her Teenage Dream album. It seems to be that a pop single is a guaranteed #1 if you have a rapper on board. Gaga is above that nonsense and only features people who she feels a connection to and will not use artists for a cheap #1. For her to release a 17 track album with absolutely no features is nothing short of a miracle in pop music these days. If she keeps her features to a select few, it makes them more special and makes those who are accepted for a collab feel really privelaged.

Because she's actually talented and I don't think she'd ever belittle herself by collaborating with something like Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry. But see, someone like Beyonce, that's a good choice. That b---h can sing, and she's on Gaga's level. She has only collaborated with people she shares her talent with, which is great. All these other music 'legends' she's performed with are also very talented people with great voices. In all honesty, I think she doesn't collaborate with them because she simply IS better than them. Mainstream artists nowadays DISGUST me, Gaga is like a shining gem amongst them.

But that's my opinion. Tear it down if you must.

And also, it adds onto her "outcast of the music industry" image, and I love that lol like that one time she said that if all the other pop singers were at the cool kids table, she wouldnt be there, or something like that
