By the time the “R.I.P.” record I did with Drake was finished, six writers including myself and him touched that song. That wasn’t the plan, but that's what happens: Somebody comes in and says, "instead of saying 'boy' say 'you.’" Now they’re a writer on the song, but that's access. For the longest time Beyoncé didn’t write any of her records. I personally still don’t believe she's written any of her records." -"A lot of these artists claim to be songwriters, but don’t always write a thing. Some, like Beyonce, serve as vocal arrangements, which points to part of the song’s composition, and thus, receive a songwriting and production credit. Others, like Beyonce, can demand credit based on their name alone. I myself have heard of new song writers looking for placement with Beyonce’s last album being told Beyonce demands a certain amount of publishing upfront (and it’s substantial) or they could “be paid handsomely” to politely remove their name from the song altogether. Fact is, Beyonce didn’t write one song on “I Am…Sasha Fierce.” Beyonce and her team have bought the rights from the songwriters and then Beyonce took credit for it. I have no idea about previous albums but it’s obvious that Beyonce never had a pen in her hand, which is a shame because Beyonce claims something she isn’t." -Beyonce Takes Credit for 'Writing' Songs -Oscars won't 'Listen' to Beyonce; she's disqualified in song race Eh that's the life of a writer tbh I've been paid to ghost write several times and met the ghost writer of Hillary's first book (fyi he's thanked for his "contributions" in the dedication or somewhere around there; I can't remember. Just not credit as the writer). Happens all the time. It's just a part of the industry which is why as a writer you want to push yourself to aspire for more so you aren't eternally stuck under someone else's thumb professionally. It's crummy, but at the end of the day artists of Beyoncé's size are companies and brands that need tender care to maintain. I don't necessarily like that she uses ghost writers and hate the idea but my mentality is, as a writer, aspire to be more and make yourself more valuable rather than try to make your position better than it is. When you move up, you'll have more skills and knowledge than others who don't so your hard work is rewarded (say this speaking as a writer who's moved career paths a bit to achieve more). In short, yeah, it's crap she does that but I highly doubt she's alone in that and it's a very pervasive issue that instead of trying to fix it, just work your way around it as it's not worth the effort.
