I stan Lana and highly enjoy her lyrics but haven't listened to or remember enough of Lorde's stuff to really form an opinion on her lyricism.

I saw a major thread debating whether Gaga was a better lyricist than Lana and I've seen a major thread debating whether Gaga was a better lyricist than Lorde. So I thought it would be interesting to see who y'all thought was a superior lyricist between Lorde and Lana.

A tough question, I only know lyrics from Melodrama and a lot from Lana but I think they are both pretty great. Lorde has some really, really beautiful lyrics on Melodrama though.

There's one lyric in Coachella that truthfully shits all over Lorde's lyrics:

Maybe my contribution could be as small as hoping that words could turn to birds and birds would send my thoughts your way.

Pink flamingos always fascinated me.

Lorde for sure- she's consistently good in all her songs

Lana is good but falls short at times, and sometime way too repetitive

as an artist I like lana though, her music speaks to me more

I think Lana is better at expression and vocabulary so her songs sound smartly written but honestly her albums so far are kinda same-y (we can judge Lorde for that when her discography expands a bit)

I think Lorde is better overall though, her songs are unique and distinguishable from each other and they always speak directly to the listener, her songs sound like stories

A lot of Lana's lyrics are about a sugar daddy roughing her up and how much she enjoys it.  Lorde's lyrics are about youth, heartbreak, coming of age, and a great party BUT they are written to fashionably with supercharged wit.  I still enjoy Lana's music though.
