We all know that Gaga's songs have several layers and different meanings. :sis:

Spoiler

For example Perfect Illusion has 3 themes :

- a faked love story

- social media

- relationship with the GP

Some user on GGD also put the light on DiC :

- masturbation

- sex for people who suffer from chronic pain

For now, Million Reasons was proved to be a song about :

- a heartbreak

- relationship with the music industry

I was supposed to go to the Paris concert but it got postponed. And then decided to listen to Gaga songs to grief :selena:

I listened to Million Reasons and the lyrics felt totally different as I knew what she was going through with Fibromyalgia.

She's talking to her disease in the song :

You're giving me a million reasons to quit the show

Fibromyalgia is giving me a million reasons to quit the show

(it makes it harder for her to do what she likes, to keep the show going)

If you could find find a dry way I'd forever be still

She would never stop doing what she likes if she didn't have chronic pain and she would be in so much more peace

I bow down to pray

There's no cure for Fibromyalgia so she turns herself to god

I try to make the worst seem better

She always keep the show going, even when she's in pain (Scheibe at Montreal 2013, or the recent dates on the Joanne Tour)

To cut through all this worn out leather

How to sing, dance, perform with all of the hindrances that come with chronic pain

Head stuck in a cycle I look of and I stare

Her chronic pain seems to come and go, she often thinks she's done with it but it comes back and hits harder

It's like that I've stopped breathing but completely aware

Gaga said that line was about her PTSD. Anyway, PTSD amplifies fibromyalgia. It causes panic attacks that makes it really hard to breathe

oh Baby I'm bleeding bleeding

direct link to the pain

can't you give me what I'm needing needing

maybe an allusion to the drugs that she used to make the pain go away in the past. She seems to have stopped taking these since they're only a short term solution

every heartbreak makes it hard to keep the faith

maybe a literal heartbreak, she doesn't have energy, she feels like she doesn't have the strength to fight anymore

Tell me what you think about this monsters :lana:

Hoping Gaga feels better soon  :kara:

Fascination

I thought someone who watched the documentary at the theatre said she wrote Million Reasons about Taylor Kinney when they had a rough time in their relationship.

In the next episode of GagaDaily:

Is John Wayne about chronic pain? :oprah: Was it originally called John Payne? :oprah:

Is Come to Mama about fibromyalgia? :oprah: Does the lyric "tell me who hurt you" meant more than we thought? :oprah:

Spoiler

JK, don't take it personally

I don't know why people are making fun of this. It's art and can have many readings. This reading was corroborated by evidence by the OP even if it may not be what Gaga intended. As long as the text supports it, it's a great way to look at it.

She has herself said that her art(pop) could mean anything - anything for anyone, and that's what makes it great.

I don't think she made an album about her chronic pain. Gaga's not all that subtle of a writer even if her stuff supposedly has many many meanings. Million Reasons seems like one of those songs that is very direct in what it is trying to say. Now, that's just me going off of what I think Gaga had in mind writing it; if you choose to relate it as you do to her physical condition than more power to you. That's the magic of art, it's all about the perception of the person observing it!
