Was they're some fanon agreement on Aang not being white? I'm not surprised that Avatar is up there, but I think it's up there for being a poor adaptation of an anime (anime made by Canada), not for being whitewashed.

I'm not super well-versed in A: TLAB but all of the characters appeared to be non-white. The water benders appeared to mimic Inuit culture, the fire nation Asian culture, and Aang doesn't read as white to me.

Well I agree to that, and honestly, I didn't watch the movie, but poor adaptations wouldn't be cured by casting the correct races. It just makes it less advertised. People who aren't even watching the movie are the ones making a big deal about it.

While, yes, many movies are white washed, for some films, there are just poor altogether.

But there is something wrong here, yes. But also, live action adaptations of anime just needs to stop. Whether done by Japan or America. Though both Japan and America seem to choose the exact worse anime to adapt.

I'm Asian and I think because of this, I grew up thinking asians are ugly and undesirable and that's why they are not starred on tv and movies

this really needs to change

Asians are not ugly or undesirable though, and it's sad one Asian star has won an Emmy. Asian actors tend to act way better than their American counter-parts. (Sarah Paulson is an exception though, she's life)

It's very common to whitewash the Asian and middle east cultures

Biblical movies are with white actors for example, I find it idiotic when a white actor is playing Moses or Jesus..

There are plenty of great Asian actors. I sympathize. Not one trans person has won an emmy but one has been nominated.

Sam Smith come thru and be the first gay man to win an Emmy!

Inb4 another gay man wins before him, Sam Smith stays oblivious to it and when he wins an emmy once again he says hes the first :poot:

And let's not forget that no white person has won a Blue Dragon Film Award...
