The public perceives minorities, even subconsciously, as being less talented, worthy or successful and therefore they're less likely to be spotlighted in areas of talent. So even if the movie industry isn't being directly racist by staying away from these actors because they believe the public won't grant them success or sales, it's still ultimately because the public sees them as less valuable or talented. Think of if a gay person went to a Christian party and the Christians decided to leave because of it. Is the host homophobic for cancelling the event due to the fact everyone left?
