It depends where they want to push it and if they even want to do it in the first place. They've had a Best Documentary Oscar nominee each year since 2013 (two in 2015) with What Happened, Miss Simone? contending at both, Oscars & Emmys, wining the latter. oh wow never knew something could be submitted for both the Oscars and Emmy's. If that's the case then they're definitely submitting Five Foot Two for all 3 awards shows. WHMS opened at Sundance and John Legend performed a tribute after the screening. 5F2 opened at TIFF with a press release and a performance. I can defo see Netflix pushing the doc for awards. I know that that if it gets an Emmy and a Grammy nod, Gaga will personally be credited. But what about the Oscar? Chris will obviously be credited and since Bobby is listed as the main producer, he'll get credited too. In the case of AMY ht documentary, the director and one of the 3 producers were credited. Gaga and Heather Parry are credited as producers so will they get a nomination too?

Reveal hidden contents % = chances on getting the nomination I was looking back at her 2015 submissions and the live special never appears in the lists that leaked. I don't see why she wouldn't submit it tho since I agree it would have had a fair chance at being nominated. EDIT: Nevermind, I see it was submitted in 2016. Maybe now it will be positive that the album and the film both contend in the same year. I do think a September release is better cause now this documentary is still fresh in people's mind while Cheek To Cheek Live was a year old. I hope the relevance of the Superbowl event can help push it to get a nom too.

Gaga and Heather Parry are credited as producers so will they get a nomination too? It can under some specific rules (remember The Hunting Ground/Til It Happens To You?), but Netflix really blurs the line between film & TV - at least when in comes to awards. But yeah, if it gets great reviews I can see them sending it to NY/LA theaters for at least a week just to satisfy the Academy's requirements for even submitting it for the Oscars. I hope you're right and it is worthy of having an awards push! They are giving it that coveted "fall release" after all. Amy actually had just a single producer - James Gay-Rees, who was the recipient along with Asif Kapadia. George Pank & Paul Bell are credited as co-producer and archive producer, respectively and according to the Academy, they don't matter as much. Gaga: Five Foot Two has four producers: Chris, Bobby, Gaga & Heather. That's when things get slightly complicated because the Academy usually allows only one producer to be credited along with the director, two under special circumstances. They could submit Chris and two other producers but the Academy's documentary committee would decide if all three would get nominated or just Chris and one of them. Hope I didn't confuse you even further.

Some documentaries were release for 1 day in the cinema and were nominated.. It has to be in theaters for seven consecutive days in both Los Angeles and New York to be considered for Best Documentary. 4 hours ago, Robinladen said: Yeah, Netflix is treated as TV so it will be eligible for the Emmy's only I think. Netflix is also treated as Film. Ava Duvernays documentary 13th was nominated in Best documentary in 2017.
