A Grammy Nomination For Five Foot Two?

With a release on Sept 22 this documentary is eligible for the comming Grammy Awards. Could Best Music Film be an extra nomination for Gaga next to possible nominations for "Joanne" and "Million Reasons"?

I remember Gaga submitted the MTV documentary "Inside The Outside" in 2012, which didn't get nominated. Five Foot Two is however clearly a very different documentary and a screening at Toronto Film Festival does add some prestige to it too.

Last year a documentary about The Beatles won in this category, beating out Beyoncé's "Lemonade".

I have no clue if any high profile music documentaries or concerts have been released this year tho. What do you think? :interestinga:

I never thought of this :tony:

It seems that even non monsters love this doc, so I can't wait to see it and what nominations/possible wins it could garner for her!

Isn't the festival considered as a theater release?

Some documentaries were release for 1 day in the cinema and were nominated..

I wish Joanne (the song) was the promotional single for the documentary.

It would've been great for the album and for the documentary too.

Not really. It depends where they want to push it and if they even want to do it in the first place. They've had a Best Documentary Oscar nominee each year since 2013 (two in 2015) with What Happened, Miss Simone? contending at both, Oscars & Emmys, wining the latter.

I see, thank you. This type of documentary doesn't really seem like something they'd push for the Oscars. The big advantage at the Grammy's is ofcourse that it's a music category and not a general documentary field, so that limits the competition.

It's really hard to predict in this category, a few years ago I thought that the Emmy nominated CBS Special "Cheek To Cheek Live" could snatch a nomination, but at the end of the day it got snubbed, so it is really hard to say...

I think her Grammy submissions of this year will look like this:

Album Of The Year - Joanne (40%)

Song Of The Year - Million Reasons (60%)

Record Of The Year - Million Reasons (40%)

Best Pop Vocal Album - Joanne (90%)

Best Pop Solo Performance - Million Reasons (80%)

Best Music Video - John Wayne (5%)

Best Music Film - Gaga: Five Foot Two (50%)

Spoiler

% = chances on getting the nomination

Pefect Illusion is not eligible since it was released during last year's deadline

and Million Reasons at Best Music Video? :sure:

so John Wayne is the one, even tho it will totally be snubbed
