A live musical event like Hairspray, Grease, etc etc is always impressive.

Hairspray Live really was mediocre. The 2007 movie was levels better.

The best thing about the live special was the choreo and some of the performances.

The direction was average and the sets were ok. The whole production was not that special. Definitely not one of the best live musical specials. I don't see how it got nominated.
