I was doing some research and I came upon this video:

Warning: Its a long video

Tackled topics in the video:

-Repetitive lyrics

-Max Martin and Dr. Luke creating generic pop

-Music Industry creating artist, instead of finding them (I.E Katy Perry :bon: and Selena Gomez)

-Lack of music instrument diversity

Thoughts :bon: .

this is so true. There's so many talented people making good music out there but instead they go with the same artists over and over again.

This

I'd say the quality of music nowadays is EXCELLENT

Just not what you hear in the top 40

90% of that is stream chart driven and not what people really seek to listen to

Completely agree, and that's probably why Gaga stopped caring about trying to get her songs on the chart

God that video was pure asinine. I learned nothing new except for "millennial whoop", everything else was recycled trash he could've compiled in 5 minutes or less. Awful awful video. Anyways, modern music is "terrible" because you're only listening to the radio crap. There's still plenty of good artists in this era, you just have to find them.

This, there are lots of great artists that aren't played on the radio, but people don't search for them

I always go on bandcamp and search for new artists, and I've found great music

90% of pop music has been terrible since the 2000's.

Lots of great stuff outside the mainstream tho.

"How did we go from Led Zeppelin to Lady Gaga" huh? I haven't finished the video yet but I just found it interesting how she used to cover their songs and he's comparing them.

My problem with modern top 40 music is that it's just not catchy. A song can be so auto tuned and over produced with a chorus that repeats the same line 4 times and be a huge hit... I don't get it.

There has always been trashy mainstream music (anyone remember "Who Let The Dogs Out"?)

There are some great mainstream artists out right now and I sort of enjoy some of the top ten on iTunes, particularly Logic "1-800" and Demi "Sorry Not Sorry." I usually HATE songs on the radio.

The beautiful thing about music today is that you can listen to independent artists instantly through streaming. 15 years ago, basically what was sold at Target and Wal Mart was the way ppl bought music. And huge CD music stores were always rather expensive even tho they offered different varieties.
