wondering if she can have two full album cycles at the top in a row. That's rare. It's almost always one big album (The Fame/Monster, Teenage Dream, 1989) and then the first single of the next album is huge (BTW, Roar, LWYMMD) and it drops off from there even if there are more hits. It's never as big as it was.

Like, so? Doesn't change the fact the song is pretty lame and generic like everything else she's done.

People act like getting a number one means the song is great or well written or something like that. All it means is the song is generic and gets radio play and downloads/streams. Again, chart position has nothing to do with quality of the actual song.

I read that it is the first solo female song to reach the #1 spot since Adele's Hello. If that is true, isnt kind of shocking. I know we all talk about how the girls of pop lost their power...but damn. 

Anyways, good for her. Despite all the hate, she did the damn thing. Song is great, visuals are better, and hopefully Despacito can crawl back into the corner of hell it escaped from. I didnt mind it for the longest time, but with it being EVERYWHERE and Justin not being able to actually sing it, along with all the dumb 12 year olds walking around singing "this is how we do it down in Puerto Rico," ive began to despise it lol

Also...can we officially call Taylor the current "Queen of Pop?" I mean, shes been on top with every album, and shes doing things that not even Beyonce can do anymore...break records and get #1s.

Interesting. But Taylor kind of already had this slope. With Fearless and Speak Now. As an artist, i think that was her version of what you were explaining. Time will tell tho.

If her success wasn't that funny (I LOVE seeing kats fuming) I would kinda agree with you.

Plus, Mariah doesn't deserve the record because the song is forgotten + she used the same tricks as Katy Perry.

if anything that song was THAT succesful because of Boyz II Men, they were very succesful back then and they previously had other big hits

I would say We Belong Together is Mariah's true big hit
