I can honestly say it wasn't a bad first episode in my opinion, it had it's low moments of course. I never expect scary from a TV show. In fact I've never really been scared from AHS, more so just uncomfortable. That being said, I'm looking forward to what comes next, I usually give each season about 3 episodes. I've finished all except Roanoke, lol.

Asylum remains the best season.

I fight anyone who says different. Try and tell me the Name Game wasn't legendary.

AND a scene that had me so captivated, it makes me want to re-watch again.

Spoiler

Story seems boring and predictable, characters are kinda flat...

It seems like we are lacking supernatural element (at least for now).

I liked Evan and I liked opening credits :)

I don't need eyes to see

that scene was one of the best moments of TV at that time

how could a show that used to be so good become so... bad?

It's the biggest shame, the show was such a game changer.  I looked forward to it every year, times have changed with TV that's for sure. Everything has to "make a statement" now and that's the honest truth.

Clowns all run in packs. Like bees. They all hang out together. It's a representation of a "Cult"

Plus Colton's character is cringey, he looks like a teen in his daddy's suit

Chaz Bono's cameo was so cringy. :duck:

evan better not be paid dust this season, especially since he's playing 7 different people

To be honest I really find Evan is better and better in how he plays. Mr. March, Edward Mott and Kai are really complicated characters ! I didn't really like him as an actor before Hotel, now I think he really slays his roles in AHS !

I like it so far and honestly it is a fun, relaxing and humorous watch after going through the bleak goodness of torment Thanks to my hero, David Lynch and Twin Peaks The Return. I am giving AHS a new chance after last season's bore and so far, it looks like a fun ride. I will continue to watch as long as it does not sway too far off the rail into boredom, like Roanoke suddenly did.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Also, this. I live. I felt like it was familiar. (To be clear, it was Tommy Wallace's house in Halloween.)

^ Wow that is really Cool!

EDIT: Also, some scenes were really absurd and somewhat funny, and I like this satire-like direction they are going for.

I don't ever think that this show ever takes itself so serious, it's also always a FUN fright, at the most. I like Hotel and Murder House most, also for these reasons.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Tbh I thought his role was pretty great for him. As someone who doesn't really know who he is, it didn't really scream "celebrity cameo", whereas Colton, who I also don't know, was an obvious celeb cameo that made me cringe, he really doesn't suit the role imo... thus far

I can see what you're saying! I completely agree with Colton, we'll have to see how he does in future episodes so we can fully judge it.
