Dope Is Different Now

I think Dope's just about her hitting her lowest point of realization that she's been the one that screwed up her life. It's a desperate bid to win back the people she's hurt by admitting her worst faults and frailty. I never took it to mean death at all.

I'm literally watching this rn to not be saddened by this. 2017 has been amazing for her and she's doing so much better now!

Yeah but she said herself, in interviews and such, she wrote that song out of a personally dire time. There is nothing new there since it has been revealed beforehand it was sad.

This just makes it worse.

That said, I definitely wouldn't want to make a complete assumption until the documentary is out. If it's false, the song is still pretty sad. If it's true, then it's even more sad and heartbreaking.

Dope definitely references pain and addiction. I remember first hearing it when I was doing a recovery program and she uses word play that reference programs: 

"Toast one last puff
And two last regrets
Three spirits and
Twelve lonely steps"

 

I know it continues but there are 12 steps in many recovery programs, and having done them, they can be a very lonely soul-bearing thing to do to get better.

Deep down she needed us as much as we needed her and through that need a beautiful bond was born and we healed eachother. She isn't saying that she doesnt want to spend time with us. It's just that she doesnt want to always have to be in "rescue" mode when she's around us (monsters dumping their baggage on her). She loves us so much and she lets us dump our baggage on her but once that baggage compartment is full so to speak, she has no one to dump it on to get rid of it if that makes sense. In all honesty she loves us dearly and will always be there for us but it's to the point now where it's like "I love you but it's time to cut the umbilical cord and you need to learn to stand on your own 2 feet."

And she did it all for her beloved little monsters ♥️ Like any good "mama" she has always put us first but it backfired in a way because it got to the point where it was constantly "I need you" and her own mental health started to suffer. Deep down she'll always love us dearly but she's ready to take a few minutes to breathe so to speak and take care of herself. Doesn't mean she doesnt love us. She can't be there for us if we are t there for her if that makes sense
