If Gaga was Gaga (ARTPOP, TFM, BTW) in 2017, everyone would call It cringe, irrelevant etc. The only question is why these things turned, I guess no one knows. Born To Slay 10,996
I thought the mental health awareness performance was awesome. And it sent calls to the national suicide hotline up by 50%! Plus anything with Alessia Cara is awesome, that's a rule. That said, I agree that other then that the performances were mostly boring and Katy was sucked as a host. StrawberryBlond 14,865
I think it's because there's nothing more you can do to shock anymore, as its all been done. All that's left now is maybe performing completely nude and/or having sex live on stage. And as neither of those things would be allowed (Miley actually wanted to wear completely transparent underwear at the 2013 show but she wasn't allowed so she went for that ugly looking latex) and there would be intervention if they did start to happen, what more is there to do? Things like gay kisses are now so common because our programming is so more LGBT focused than before. Many artists have worn revealing outfits over the years and nude photos of them are available at the click of a button whereas this was something you just didn't see pre-internet age. Basically, having the internet has opened us up to so much shocking stuff that we're all in shock fatigue. We've reached the point where we can't truly be shocked anymore. So I'm not surprised that proceedings are so much more sedate now. They know the public want bland, generic, straightforward stuff anyway, at least at this present moment in time. 9 hours ago, Arturo said: Kendrick is an amazing rapper. He's delivered 2 classics and while DAMN. is still too new to call it a classic it may end up as one. But he's very conformist. Bad Blood? The Greatest? Don't Wanna Know by the Art Police? Crazy how a rapper who is so renowned and respected stooped to the level of being a rent a rapper. Artistic integrity is not on his priorities list. So true. He frequently gets hailed as an "out there" rapper, a non conformist who does his own thing, a mainstream artist with an underground mentality. But he's collabed with so many huge, mainstream names that the public love that I think his position as the "realest rapper" right now is somewhat overblown. Even when he collabs with fellow urban acts, they're always big names like Drake, Beyonce and Rihanna. He's even working with Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane next. I mean, a one hit wonder group and one of the most disrespected rappers around in the same song? I used to think he had a big level of artistic integrity in the beginning but he's certainly not immune to some forms of selling out now.

Society is getting dumber for some reason OR its because now everybody has access to the internet so now we are seeing more and more ignorant and rude ppl ruining everything, it was more "exclusive" before. Jenny Review 67
In the past they attend to promote and make iconic performances and make history . nowadays they would only attend if they are given an award and every year is a focus on one star so you won't find rihanna watching beyonce nor beyonce watching britney , taylor avoids katy ...etc.... no global stars are attending so no drama is happening the cut budget small stage won't handle all their egos. http://musiczonereview.over-blog.com/
