I always loved Taylor the music, I never liked her as a person. 1989 is a really good album too

it was when she literally quoted me at the end of the video (the playing the victim line) that i was officially shook, she was truly ready to come for me and everyone else and now i submit to my master

I've liked a few of her singles/songs/videos over the years. 1989 was the 1st album of hers that listened to completely. I really like it but it's pretty overrated in my opinion and New Romantics deserved better as a single.

When I first heard LWYMMD, I thought it had some catchiness but was overall messy. I thought maybe it'll be a grower. Then the mv came out and I loved it; still wasn't completely sold on the song but it has helped my impression go from meh to ok. :lolly:

I have a feeling the 2nd single will be way better. Taylor still kinda leaves a nasty in my mouth tbh.

The song is bad and the only reason I don't hate it is because of the video.

The 2nd single needs to snatch my scalp like Blank Space did or I'm gonna just pretend she quit music after 1989:lolly:

a theory: the video was laced with demonic spells that convert people to temporary fans until the era is over

It did change my life - I suddenly became inspired to wake up early, eat healthy, exercise, and take my craft seriously, all thanks to Taylor - thank you, Taylor :gaycat:

Spoiler

I like the chorus tho :selena:

Nah, I just liked that she was self aware.

I agree this MV is very well produced, with high budget etc... BUT we should make difference between easy blockbusters and true piece of art! :poot:

I mean, all the visuals that Taylor serves to us are recycled and this is why GP like it! This is the goal of pop culture, we have all the impression this visuals come from our mind and satisfy us because there is no risk-taking and we see images that we already knew. (From Kylie "All the lovers" MV to The fame perfume spot TV or Thriller MV and all the glamourous mv)

THIS is a good blockbuster, that's it! No more, no less.

+ the credit goes to the director not Taylor

I had a very similar experience but with 1989. I really disliked Taylor after the Red era and Shake It Off wasn't that particularly interesting either. But then she dropped Blank Space with that amazing video, which she later topped with Bad Blood both the video and a remix that made me finally love the song that was initially so bland on the album. By the end of the era I knew the lyrics to all of the songs on the album. It was just sort of unexpected from her to be able to mock herself like that at the time and that was what made the era so interesting.

I was very looking forward to this era because I just knew all of the drama in between the eras would end up in the songs and I knew she would capitalize on being called a snake too. I just needed to see what kind of approach she would take. A lot of people hate her for being calculated and manipulative but that + her being a marketing genius are the things I love about Taylor the most. It's fascinating.

I'm not quite a stan but I'm excited for Reputation and this image change.

All Taylor's new song and video proved (imo) is that she keeps recycling her themes and  lyrical content and, despite her trying to shove down the idea 'metamorphosis'  down our throats and tell us we're all wrong about her, that she will never mature past the artist who can do nothing except think about her own reputation and petty drama. It's so ironic.

The discover feature on Spotify is a great way to discover new music and artists. There's actually some great music out there that you might stumble upon :)
