Guardian: As Gaga once was, Taylor is now viewed as a snake

The snake eating its own tail in Swift’s lyric video is a genius symbol for the hatred without any logical end or beginning; misogyny is always a self-fulfilling aim. It’s an infinitely repeating cycle – it wasn’t so many decades ago that Monica Lewinsky was the snake and Hillary Clinton was the contrasting archetype of purity. Before Swift, it was Lady Gaga or Lana Del Rey being slammed as fake and phony. Now they’ve miraculously fallen back into favour, but for how long? Women are swapped in and out of roles in the machinery of patriarchal society and its race to destroy them.

I encourage everyone to read the full article. It goes really in depth and is very well written

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

"Now they’ve miraculously fallen back into favour". No, Gaga fought hard. It wasn't a miracle. And she still gets hate 24/7.

Other than that, interesting article. I don't like Taylor that much AND she is two-faced, but it's pretty clear how misogynistic the GP/media is.

Whispering

"Swift’s imagery is too spine-tinglingly salient to be accidental – “you said the gun was mine” expertly captures the way the misogynist society conjures up incriminations to vilify, demonise and discredit women.

Swift knows she can’t win, so she is content to play up to whatever role will bring her temporarily back into favour – “I’ll be the actress, starring in your bad dreams”. Swift knows her reputation is out of her own hands. Yes, Swift’s new single is a diss track, but she’s dissing us. And we probably deserve it."

What.... no ones dislikes Taylor because she's a woman... people dislike her because she lied in public to put down Kanye West, and bullies Katy Perry by abandoning her own promises and values to release all her music on Spotify/streaming right when Katy's album dropped.

People dislike her bc she's done mean things...

Get out of here with the patriarchy bullsh*t. It's phony articles like this that make it hard to call out actually misogyny, which there is plenty of.

Justin still gets hit after hit after hit. If a female pop star had done even a tenth of what he's done their career would be OVER irrevocably.

Female artists have always been subjected to scrutiny by the public though. One of the few male artists who was constantly scrutinised by the GP/media was MJ.

In my messy era.
