Ziggy 11,785
Because controversy is what courts views. To those whose careers heavily rely on quick boosts like feuds and clapbacks and singles, they have to do this to survive. We then consume it because even if the material is not very good (LWYMMD and Swish Swish), the drama surrounding it captivates us. It's the same reason reality TV exists and why rap beefs happen. It's something to talk about, to engage in. They're superficial problems without real-world ramifications so it's melodrama that we happily digest in order to get our fix of it. Essentially, it's a perpetuation of the mythologizing of celebrity culture only now it can operate at an even higher level than before thanks to so many media platforms now existing. Digital media has allowed reality drama to proliferate. These beefs have always been around, but they're monumentally more profitable now. Why has Gaga not taken part in it? I would say largely because so much of her professional image is around kindness. That and because she's at a stage of her career where it wouldn't do her any benefit. She did shock and awe, now she's building herself up as a young legacy act.
StrawberryBlond 14,822
You're right, there's a lot of that going on right now. I know that creativity can be hard to find when you're a few albums down and have been living the same good life for a while, but come on. I really don't like this idea of turning fanbases against one another. In the age of YouTube, that translates into "all the haters flock to the enemy of their fave and hate their new video." You can see that happening right now with Katy's and Taylor's new videos. Taylor's also clearly getting dislikes from Kanye, Kim and Calvin fans. I just don't think turning rival fanbases against you and getting a heavily disliked video for your trouble is worth it. I wouldn't really want to be a fan of an artist who relies on such bitter tactics to sell. Gaga's got such a kind heart and I really appreciate the fact that she responds with love to most tricky situations. That means that whenever anyone disses her, most of the time, she is innocent, so you never have to question her character. It seems that presenting yourself as a villain nowadays is on trend and I'm not feeling it whatsoever.
TimisaMonster 31,073
Well....what about the teaser and Gaga talking about Madonna to promote her documentary? It may not be a "diss" but she is rehashing an old and tired fued for publicity Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify!
Jenny Review 67
On 8/30/2017 at 4:38 PM, PopThatArt said: It's like everyone these days from Katy to Taylor to Nicki and all the rest, again, except Gaga, are sacrificing their integrity and resorting to such stupid sh*t to sell. It's pathetic. Why do you expect Gaga to sacrifice her integrity to just for the sake of sales or headlines? here you go not everyone is doing the same . http://musiczonereview.over-blog.com/
