Usually whenever Taylor releases leads, the rest of the album sounds kind of different sonically. This was at least the case for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and Shake It Off on Red and 1989. They were both fun bops to build up hype, but most of the rest of those respective albums were the real gem. This may be the same for this particular album cycle too.

The song isn't bad. It's weak but that doesn't matter because she's Taylor Swift and it's and will be a smash. People didn't like Shake It Off at first, in fact, you all dislike EVERYTHING EVERYTIME FROM EVERYONE, it's annoying.

exact reason why this fanbase annoys the f*ck out of me.

Ya but see there's this thing called an opinion. Let us keep ours, what you say isn't fact. :awkney:

I am not taking away your opinion. I am just questioning the song's longevity because I don't think is good.

It is musically very poor. That's a fact

Gurl there isn't a music rulebook. What is poor and what is not is simply a perception or impression that influenced you or influenced a non-existent standard. Music is still a subcategory of entertainment and will always be. If people enjoy a song, it did its job. Calling something musically poor just creates confusion and associates shame with liking a song.

Yeah the song sounds like a mix of Operate by peaches and I'm too sexy by right said freed all over a bland vocal delivery. But it's Taylor swift so I didn't expect much :poot:

Battle 4 Ur Life

you are right. it sounds pretty average and compared to her last lead single it's a decay in my humble opinion.

I'm not sayin it's bad! It's a bop and all but not all that tbh.

“Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”

I'm a little confused because everyone hypes her writing and songs and all I ever hear are songs that are extremely repetitive, basic, and immature. I just don't see what makes her an amazing lyricist
