Please try to remember I'm pretty sure the meaning was about a 1978 (i think thats the year) issue of Hustler magazine stating that women should no longer be treated like a piece of meat. Thus the reasoning for her american/alejandro speech at the born this way ball and meat grinders during Poker face Monster Ball 2010, Monster Ball 2011, Born This Way Ball 2013, artRAVE 2014, Joanne World Tour 2017 (Both Nights in Toronto)

Doot 2
It's iconic yes, but I don't think it had the intended impact she wanted. 90% of the general public just knows she wore a dress made out of meat, not the reason why. I think I've yet to meet someone outside of the fanbase that knows the reasoning behind it.

And by no means did it hinder her reputation - people were calling her a satanist and illuminati puppet way before that, but people say that about anyone who's at the top... This sparked way more interest than outrage... It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

God Control 2,181
I actually love it. The problem with people is that they care too much about anything but the artist's music these days. It's all about their opinions, the political affiliation, the causes they support, their charity, their tweets, their feuds with other singers and their morality. I personally don't care about any of those. I mean if an artist had some good influence on society, donated to charity or fought for noble causes, great, that's a big extra for me. But if their music isn't appealing to me, I couldn't really care less about them. I mean I'd salute their efforts, that's for sure and respect them as people, but I won't be buying their albums and attending their tours if I don't like the music. The same goes for when an artist doesn't really have any affiliation with good causes or has some obnoxious or controversial opinions or feuds or bad morality, but their music appeals to me, I'll listen to their music and that's it. I guess at the end of the day, it's music that plays on our music player, not behaviors. If you're gonna miss out on a singer's entire career because of a dress she wore or an opinion that he/she expressed, then by all means, it's your loss. Robinladen 1,527
I actually feel like the meat dress died out over these last years and is no longer the main association people will have when hearing "Lady Gaga". She made mistakes that are actual mistakes so this if def not the worst one!

littlepotter 75,142
it is iconic for us, but yes it basically is her biggest legacy with the gp. we can hate the gp all we want but they choose the way they remember an artist, not us. i made a presentation on gaga in my summercamp and as soon as i mentioned her it was all "oh the meat dress satanist". once i showed them the sound of music performance they were blown away but that just shows how damaging the meat dress was chaeri pls
billionreasons 46
It was something only a superstar like Gaga could pull off. MEGA. Legendary at this point. As far as I'm concerned, she could do no wrong from 2008-2012.
