Taylor Swift is scamming her fanbase

Technically yes. But, the people who buy the album once are still ahead of the scalpers. And that's what it's all about.

Yes and this will lead to fans buying extra copies of the album or merch to go back up the priority list. Therefore it will drive other fans to then buy more to go back up the list and so on- and all of this for the opportunity to buy tickets- there are no guarantees you'll get anything.

Then you buy a $400 ticket- it's a wonderful way to cynically milk the fanbase ( and I say this as a fan), all under the guise of stopping touts- there are other ways you could do this

well......... from a lot story's from the JWT backstage experience said they were able to talk to her easily and it wasn't like some peopel (like you) seems to make it look

And there are also some Taylor fans that don't mind to purchase stuff to get a better chance to get a better ticket. My point is, neither Gaga nor Taylor are scammers.

We live in a supply/demand world and anyone who feels this is a scam is free to not purchase anything at all. But most people here (mainly because they are bitter that some artists are more successful) tend to be way too critical to other artists when in reality Gaga is just an equally big target for stuff like this. It's just that people here are quick to point fingers instead of bein analytical and thinking critically.

No I can confirm that the article is so dramatic and false.

Yes, your position in the queue line moves up when you complete activities, but my position went from the very lowest point to the very highest point with just one preorder of Reputation.

To say that she is scamming fans is ridiculous and sensationalizing what is really happening. They want to make sure fans get the best tickets, not scalpers. And well, are scalpers going to buy the album or buy Taylor merch? No. Fans would already be buying this stuff, and now they can buy it and rest easy knowing ticket buying won't be such a nightmare.

This. At least someone in this thread understands the purpose of the program.

The article is exaggerating:saladga:

Anyways, it's not like you HAVE to do these things to get tickets. It just gives super fans a better shot at scoring tickets. Smart marketing if you ask me.

On a certain level, it's almost the same as Gaga's team telling fans to buy any merch from her website to get a presale code.

yeah, that's true! I just felt your first comment as attacking her, but whatever! :D

When I first read the article in the Topic it felt to me like scamming as well but I also see the positives: That her fans are more likely to get tickets, instead of people who just buy them to resell them for way more money! It helps protecting from scamming to some degree but with the recent "fan/stan"-culture I see the "exploration" (idk if that's the right word in this context) of her fans as well..... the more they buy the more likely a ticket, but just that MORE LIKELY

Exactly!! I have seen so many concerts and I always have the best seats just because I know how to work these ticketing systems. Hell, most venues save some amazing first/second row seats until the week of the show so sometimes buying tickets the second they go on sale (months before the show) is a waste.

This is just a fun activity for Taylor and her fans. I also think this is Ticketmaster covering its tracks after the horrible Harry Styles ticket situation. Assuming Taylor and Harry share a lot of fans, I doubt Ticketmaster wanted to feel the wrath of them again.

She's not scamming anyone, they could just sign up, don't buy anything and just wait for the general "no-priority" on-sale as they would have done without this!

I think that's a slight reach.

We will have to wait until November 28 to see what happens. I'm still doing the bare minimum but it still says I'm "priority" just because I preordered the album and watched the lyric video a few times.

A number of news sites have picked up on this scheme- is it a scam- no. Is it a way of getting more money from fans- hell yes

As for other ways of doing this- named tickets, photo ID

Depeche Mode did pretty much the same thing, and some people ended spending hundreds of dollars

Good luck to anyone doing this

Either you pay the inflated resale price or you buy merch and an album to get a ticket.

It is a money grab but she's a great business woman :applause:

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Thisss!!

But I have to say that her merch is too expensive :duck: :toofunny:

And right now only us fans can participate

Yeah I'm not touching that merch haha. I only buy artist's merch if it's tour merch that I really, really like. I can't fathom spending $50 to have a t-shirt with just a album cover on it. That makes no freaking sense.
