Exactly! Bottom line is that she isn't forcing anyone to do anything. She is saying to her fans "look, do the stuff you would be doing anyways, and you won't have to do deal with scalpers."

And yes it's also an amazing marketing tactic. She is ensuring some decent album sales with this system. It's a win-win. Fans get to see their fave do well and fans also get a easy ticket buying experience.

But wont you go down the list if crazier fans buy her album like 8 times just to stay at the top

Gaga did a KINDA similar thing with the presale codes so technically if you bought merch you had a better chance of buying JWT tickets. While it is a money grab scheme it's all good marketing. Don't get me wrong, I live for the drama with the snake but I wouldn't say it's completely a scam lol. Let's hope they actually up getting tickets after doing all of this lol

So, I signed up and pre-ordered the album. However, now I feel slimy for supporting her (cuz I promised myself to never buy her music) just to get concert tickets just in case I like her after the album drops :icega:

You can scalp them and make profit if you don't.  It's a win-win :bon:

Kesha did the same thing for the Rainbow tour and no one seemed bothered. You don't have to buy things. You can earn points just by streaming videos and music. Obviously purchases are weighted more heavily, but considering how fans have been getting scammed by scalpers this seems pretty tame to me. Pop stardom has always been about cultivating a rabid fanbase who will buy your things. We all make our choices about how much time and money we want to spend on the popstars we love. This seems just like all the rest of fandom to me.

Idk about face value, but resale was a lot.  When I was looking at 1989 tickets, the cheapest resale I saw was $160 for upper bowl :air:

Gaga scammed me :poot: I bought something from her online store just to get the code for pre-sale tickets, but when I put in my code they were all sold out  :selena:

I wouldn't call it a scam, since there was no fraudulent attempt, everything is clear in black and white.

However, she is desperate.

To say that this is a scam is a HUGE reach... I actually kind of like the concept.

For the Red Tour it was 60-70 dollars for floor tickets at my arena show, but for 1989 I payed 240 dollars for my higher up ticket at a stadium show.

I "cheated" by using the uk sign up without buying anything for my NA date and got cheap pre-sale tickets :whitney:
