Despacito and Alleged Racism

Why are you addressing this to us when you're citing twitter

Sounds like you just nitpicked some twitter accounts and now you want to rant about it.

Ive never seen anyone claim racism and if it were a legitimate thing, we would all be talking about it already, not just you.

The flow of the song is literally the same the entire song. listen to the first 15 seconds and you have the vibe of the entire song. That's why I hate it personally.

I HATE the song for it's basicness...i listen to TONS of music that isn't in English so no...the language had nothing to do with it

Umm I go twitter maybe once a week. And I'm sure not looking for stuff relating to Despacito nor see anything about it.

Just because you haven't seen doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Maybe you haven't been paying attention enough.:reductive:

I see the racist claim on almost every Despacito thread that is brought up recently.

Plus no one's really going to defend the song when most of the people on here hate it.

I can't with some of y'all accusing others of being racist just because they don't like the song.

People don't hate/dislike the song just because most of the lyrics are in Spanish. They do because they think it's generic and basic.

I mean like the remix (haven't heard the original); its catchy and a bop but it's nothing special or new. And it really doesn't deserve to break Mariah Legendrey's record. :reductive:

Just look at the K-Pop thread on here how big and popular it is. Majority of those fans and participants are not Korean nor understand Korean but still love the music. So the language barrier is not a problem for a lot of people when it comes to music.

Despacito receives criticism on here because of the song structure, not its cultural background and language. Point Blank!!!

Its just a week away from tying the record.  If Taylor slays maybe she will dethrone it maybe somehow Wild Thoughts will manage to surpase it but honestly I think it will break the record.

Ur post is confusing whether ur defending or hating Despacito lol

I think it's pretty clear. I enjoy the remix but that doesn't stop me from knowing it's basic and generic. I'm more defending people's hate for the song; than the song itself.

Because One Sweet Day was groundbreaking, right?

Sis if you're going to try to come for Mariah, you have to do better than compare her song to songs that are nowhere close to its league; like Despacito.

Hon, many songs are considered groundbreaking compared to Despacito.

One Sweet Day is a great song; but regardless of what you think of the song itself, Mariah deserves to hold the record just on her artistry alone. Especially when it comes to songs like Despacito.

I'm gonna say this in the least racist way...white people think everything is racist when we actually don't give a fück. I don't like the song neither and I don't go saying oh you are racist for not liking it:trollga:

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

It's not racist to hate the song  my whole family hates that trash song and we're Mexican Luis Fonsi can do better tbh

But the record is not about the legacy you leave, but how successful your song is and at the moment Despacito is still smashing left and right.

And let's not forget how charts were easily manipulated back in 90s.

So yeah, just because you don't like the song doesn't mean it's bad or not worthy of a record. It literally became the most viewed music video EVER in less than 8 months. It deserves all kinds of recognition.
