The rainbands continue to hit many areas The total death toll is now of 6 across Texas. The storm is expected now to go back exactly where it came from, with a small possibility of it reentering the golf of Mexico and reintensifying. Another possibility is of it turning towards the Houston area as a tropical depression with no reintensification I will now give updates for selected areas Corpus Christi and surrounding areas: This area including port aransas and rockport are expected to finally have some calm. The rain will continue but will be moderate. Around 10 inches max. Rescue and recovery missions are finally starting to take place as conditions are finally favorable for rescuers. Power outages are still widespread and people could be without power for the next few days. Upto 30 inches of rain are still expected San Antonio and Austin Metro area San antonio is expected to receive quite a lot of rain in the upcoming days. Upto 15 inches are expected locally, however the city seems to have been spared from the worst of the storm. Wind however might still be quite strong in the San Antonio with wind gusts up to 50 mph possible. A flash flood warning is still in effect and forecasts can change so caution is still highly recommended. Austin is expected to receive a little more rain than San Antonio meaning there is a moderate flooding risk for most homes around the Onion and Barton Creeks. In general caution is required and flash flooding is possible. Power outages are also widespread with at least 30000 power outages in both of the metro areas. Houston Galveston metro area Catastrophic flooding is already occurring in the area. There have already been up to 1000 water rescues in south west houston and the area has only received half of the expected rainfall. All of Houston's creeks are expected to cause catastrophic flooding as they go over their banks. All of the main Bayous are also at top capacity and could overflow at any moment causing disastrous and historic flooding in all areas surrounding them including downtown houston. The whole of the area is also under a tornado watch meaning isolated tornadoes are to be expected. The whole of south west houston has already received 20 inches of rain and is expected to still receive another 40 inches of rain. The whole of the houston and galveston metro area should prepare for upto 40 inches of rain still to come in isolated areas. The white areas is where 40 inches more is possible Most main highways and interstates might also be impassable due to catastrophic flooding. Expect major power outages across the area The worst case scenario has turned into a reality for the Houston metro area. Stay home and take care. If your house floods the Us coast guard has recommended to not go into the attic. Unless you have an ax that will help you break through the roof. I live across the street from where I work and it took me 50 minutes to get there. I'm the only one from my department here because everyone else's homes had water in them.
