Yeah they were successfully evacuated AFTER the photo hit social media and THEN thats when they were saved. Could you imagine if this didnt happen, they prob all be dead. I am beyond upset and real pissed off about this. They should of evacuated these poor people before hand. Most of these people are chair bound and cant move.

The whole thing was badly organized by the local government! People in flood prone areas should've been evacuated!!!

I'm safe for now. Water is slowly receding. But more rain is forecast.

they addressed this a bit in a press conference.  The problem is as we know all of Houston is basically prone to flood damage, and it's nearly impossible to predict where problems will occur.  For the vast majority of people, staying in their homes even if a few feet of water come in is really the safest thing.  Most people that die in floods will die in cars.  A mass evacuation would have been worse.

And this particular event is essentially a worst case scenario.  No one would predict that essentially the entire city would flood.  Harvey is the new benchmark, beating out Allison.

Almost the entire state of Lousiana is being affected by this right now.

I don't think they should've evacuated the whole city, but at least vulnerable people in flood prone areas, like that nursing home that was right next to a bayou!

Those poor old ladies shouldn't have been there while the area was flooding!

Houston's hobby airport is completely underwater.

This is surreal
