Most of these people are chair bound and cant move. The whole thing was badly organized by the local government! People in flood prone areas should've been evacuated!!! The problem is as we know all of Houston is basically prone to flood damage, and it's nearly impossible to predict where problems will occur. For the vast majority of people, staying in their homes even if a few feet of water come in is really the safest thing. Most people that die in floods will die in cars. A mass evacuation would have been worse. And this particular event is essentially a worst case scenario. No one would predict that essentially the entire city would flood. I don't think they should've evacuated the whole city, but at least vulnerable people in flood prone areas, like that nursing home that was right next to a bayou! Those poor old ladies shouldn't have been there while the area was flooding! Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.
