Sheridan 3
Did I say it was changing the DNA sequence? I am talking about the heritable alterations in gene expression caused by factors other than changes in the DNA sequence i.e. the influence of gene function which can happen by the environment. I was being a bit of a douche yesterday. Sorry :red:. I did some epigenetics last year, so I totally get what you're saying, but I felt an irrepressible need to disagree.... Regarding your original question, as far as I understand it most of these changes are either in the germ line and inherited, or occur before birth - in both cases you would still be "born that way." But there are examples of this happening during life too, I know, so then you wouldn't be able to say that. I suppose the type of change could be methylation and silencing of genes - but which? Are there currently undiscovered genes for s-xuality or "manliness" or is it more of a hormonal issue? In any case, I hope that it is not epigenetic, because this might bolster the notion of "homos-xuality as a disease" or spur people on to try and "cure" it, since epigenetic changes are easier to reverse than nucleotide changes. Miel 15,009
What a genuinely interesting conversation. But @OP question, I say yes. Maybe not as big or as massive, but to some people it'll still be pretty big on them. 3 points in and ready for more
Hot Space 14
I don't really see how that will make people stop listening to BTW. I mean, there's still the rest of the album right?
thefamebitch 826
I think it still applies. Gaga said God made people the way he wanted them to be made so, regardless of what "caused" them to be gay, God still wanted that person to be gay regardless. Just saying what I think Gaga meant! Galactic Mess 1,393
there's more than 10% . This. The research only considered the ones that came out. But there's still the closeted ones (probably the vast majority). I say that 20% of people are gay.

mindim1000 0
well its not comletely for the gays it is just an aspect of it... i'm pretty sure it will be remembered as the big hit it was but in more than 5 years it will prob fade away... i mean its like those "empowering" songs have became fashion to get hits... firework, raise your glass, ****ing perfect, born this way, what doesnt kill you and i'm pretty sure it'll be continued "
Cherry 17
I think that will be discovered eventually, tbh. I don't think anyone is born with a s-xual orientation, but rather that they embrace one as they go through puberty with a lot of it being influenced by environment. I remain convinced that the studies stating otherwise were performed by biased individuals.

Kidz Boop 0
environment can't influence your s-xuality Wrong. Look up epigenetics please.

Kidz Boop 0
gimme an example besides prison. oh and, is op's gender a b---h? People who go to prison don't necessarily become gay. I think it's immature to believe that. If a gay guy was locked away with only females, he will most likely not have s-x with them. I am talking about the environment, including toxins or substances, which can alter gene expression/function in utero, much like women who smoke while pregnant give birth to infants with genetic defects. Economy 47,298
Ok but ur forgetting "Born This Way" isnt just about gays, she only talks about gays part of the song actually... She talkes about so many things in the song, race etc so even if that portion was deemed irrelevant, the general message of accepting yourself for who you are still would be
