There's more aspects to Born This Way than "I was born this gay"

We established this already. Lets be honest, it will lose some meaning if this actually happens.

I didn't read the thread

Yeah, some, but not all.

To me Born This Way wasn't just for empowering Gays, to me it was about embracing your 'flaws' and accepting who you are. I don't think it'll be irrelevant, but I don't think it'll be relevant either..

BTW is an amazing song about loving yourself and this will always be a relevant issue to everyone. Like what others above me said, it's not only about homos-xuality. It's about being proud of your color, disabilities and flaws in general ;) And in some of her explanations for the song and the horns, she said that she always knew she had horns but she wasn't necessarily born that way, she birthed herself to be that way. It's not all about genetics and origins, one can also look at BTW as you continually birthing yourself to the kind of person you want to be and being free to choose without hate weighing you down

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

'Born This Way' is all-encompassing. Sorry, but we have different opinions. :)

According to you, in a few years that won't be true for the LBGT community. :)

No. :lmao:

If you read the thread, it will still be empowering and inspiring. This thread is about how relevant 'Born This Way' will be in 5 years time, if this situation happens. BTW is one of Gaga's most iconic songs and it will be more relevant than 'Beautiful', even if scientists make a breakthrough like the one I stated in the OP on the cause of homos-xuality. ;) But, that's just my opinion. :)

The point of the song never was that we are all literally "born this way". She explained that many times.

"The nexus of 'Born This Way' and the soul of the record reside in this idea that you were not necessarily born in one moment. You have your entire life to birth yourself into becoming the ultimate potential vision that you see for you. Who you are when you come out of your mother's womb is not necessarily who you will become. 'Born This Way' says your birth is not finite, your birth is infinite."

I think you would have to be blind to not see how this song has a literal meaning. Gaga has said people are born gay. I'm guessing she thought the same when writing this song.

Maybe it's the concept behind being gay, having trouble being yourself. But it doesn't necessarily have to be gay too. It's, like a few members have mentioned, your flaws.

Gaga isn't just about one thing. There are more than meets the eye.

A Transformers reference.

Just kidding, I get that, but I think the cultural impact of this song will go down.

:derpga: But it fits, eh?

It will go down, but it will stay there.

CONSIDER: Scientists discover in the next 5 years that homos-xuaility is caused by the environment acting on genes (epi-genetics), so gay people aren't born gay. :omg:

Basically, BTW (taking about the song) would be meaningless. :ohno:

What da ya think guys?

Okay, epigenetics is not the environment acting on genes, at all. Epigenetics basically refers to changes in genes, but not by changing the actual DNA sequence. These changes are still heritable - that means epigenetic modifications can still be passed on to offspring.

I get what you are saying, but that is the wrong term to use.
