dontbesweet 7
i agree, but judas? it was one of the most interesting videos this era. the lipstick gun part is iconic. I said I love the video, but it lacked something. It was more controversial than anything, and it could've had a really good storyline or something. It was a little mis-match and "what's happening?". Leaf 2,429
Gives birth to millions of children & a gun. Gets stoned to death by Jesus Has an epic moment with a legend, who is actually on the edge of glory/death Gets Married Turns her life around, becomes a star. Now they seem like pretty epic moments honey bunches. :golfclap:
Bambino 24,087
Yoü And I for example had great fashion, but there was no storyline in the video... What? You and I did have a storyline, a very beautiful one. The guy (probably a scientist) finds Yuyi, who is a mermaid. He takes good care of her, then he falls in love, and so Yuyi does. But they realize they can't be together as long as she's a mermaid, so the scientist decides to make her legs and turn her into an actual human so they can be together. And so he does. He actually succeeds to make Yuyi legs, but as he tries to, he becomes a little bit controlling because he thinks he can turn her to whatever human he wants the way he wants to. That's clearly shown when he tortures Yuyi, injects her with medicine and places some tool inside her mouth. The video did have a story, it just, as you said, needed an epic moments that would stick in everybody's mind.
Marco 731
I think all the videos had their epic moments tbqh. Born This Way: Her giving birth to heads. Judas: Obviously the whole religious metaphor. The Edge of Glory: Clarence Clemons. You and I: Her becoming a mermaid. Marry the Night: 13 minutes long, tells a true story. Michael 533
I have loved the video's this era. Yes, I would have preferred The Edge of Glory to have mermaids but I just have to deal with the fact it doesn't. At least The Edge of Glory video was different from anything she had previously done. Born This Way - amazing video. Futuristic, interesting story, completely different and enchanting. Beautifully shot and directed. Judas - a real work of art. Visually stunning, controversial, great story. One of her best ever videos. The Edge of Glory - simple and plain but I like the video for sentimental value as it was just Gaga and Clarence and he died shortly after. You And I - a bit all over the place but that distortion is part of the attraction. Introduced/continued many iconic new looks (Jo Calderone, Yuyi) and the setting is beautiful. Plus, we get full brunette Gaga for the first time and she looks stunning. Marry The Night - honest, real, intense, beautiful, perfect. The best video of her career. Directed so amazingly and it has such at atmospheric feel especially in the hospital scenes. It's like a real movie and it is done so well that you really feel like you are on a journey with Gaga and rooting for her. It don't think they lack "epic moments". There are so many memorable things in the video's this era. In Born This Way she gave birth to a new race of humanity, introduced the prosthetic bones and skeleton make-up which became iconic. In Judas she was stoned to death and everybody was talking about the water scene and the lipstick gun. In You And I she kisses her own face which mind****ed everybody who watched it and turned into a mermaid. In Marry The Night the cheerios scene will be particularly remembered as well as the hospital scenes and the flaming cars. The Born This Way era has been great for video's. Disco Heaven 40
I think the problem with BTW era videos is that Gaga/Haus of Gaga are good at directing music videos, but they're beginners. They don't have the professional skills + experience that Francis Lawrence, Jonas Akerlund etc have. So the videos are not so "catchy" as her previous ones. They're pretty good, but not so addictive like Bad Romance, for example. Which for me is fine. I love her artistic freedom in this era, though honestly I'd like Gaga to hire a professional to direct at least one single from next album. Bitch works too much. There's nothing wrong with asking for professional help sometimes ;)
Rino 5,120
I liked the whole BTW era, fashion and music,... But there was ONE thing that wasn't as good as the previous era's: the Music Video's... (except Judas and a bit Marry The Night) And I know why they weren't as good as Paparazzi/Bad Romance/Telephone! Those video's didn't have an as great storyline and they missed the very important EPIC moment in the video, for example: - Gaga burns the man in the Bad Romance Video - Gaga and Bey poisoned the café and start dancing in amazing and iconic clothes in Telephone - Gaga kills her boyfriend in the Paparazzu Video These video's wouldn't be as good without these scenes... Yoü And I for example had great fashion, but there was no storyline in the video... What do you think? Discuss!!! the problem is not in storyline or whaterver connected with it. the problem is in their appeal to public. her btw videos were not oriented to a usual person, they were oriented to her fans. her every video from btw has a special meaning to little monsters. every video from this era reveals sth referred to gaga's life and her personal experience. that's why they weren't as successful as bad romance/telephone, which were made only for commercial purposes. 月にかわって、おしおきよ!🌙

Leaf 2,429
I can't at the professional director card. Err... if you didn't realize but Ã…kerlund is a **** film director and I've seen his films and they were critically panned. Same with Kahn. Lawrence is an average film-maker. Tarantino ever went to film school. The Haus of Gaga are ~professionals. Are you really stating Dada's work is of lesser quality, for example? :sam: Gaga's had enough experience. She does not need a "professional" because her art is fully realized when she has complete creative control. You only see problems when in actuality none are present. Gagz 2,572
I think all the videos had their epic moments tbqh. Marry the Night: 13 minutes long, tells a true story. So a thirteen minute long video of paint drying would be epic? Just because it's long and a true story doesn't make it epic.
