Where did Gaga ask black people for the answer to fixing racism? She asked how can white people do better at helping the cause, something black people CAN answer :emma: How can race rights activists spend so much time critcising white people then a prominent white person asks back "what can we do better" and then get so much backlash for it.

This is why its so hard to get anything done in terms of race relations, there's so much infighting and technicalities and hatred towards people who actually support the cause. I swear people spend more time trying to clock white people on their side than they do actually trying to fight the cause sometimes :saladga:

"Do you agree with Amanda Seales and her clapback at Lady Gaga?"

-Yes 38%

-No 62%

It seems most people are on Gaga's side.

There's so much infighting at the moment, and it honestly tires me. Like, open your f*cking eyes! There are NAZIS and KKK climbing back into the mainstream! We need to work together, jfc.

These same kinds of people will say "White people should listen to black people on race issues" and "White people need to take responsibility and step up to solve racism!", then someone asks for advice on how they can do that and it becomes "You're forcing us to educate you!"

It's literally just nitpicking for the sake of having something to complain about. You can NEVER win with people like this because they won't let you, you will always be in the wrong somehow no matter what you do. Gaga would do well to listen to the people who are actually responding with kindness and trying to help her rather than people who are trying to tear her down.

The sad thing is there are at least 9 (probably more) white supremacist rallies happening this weekend and yet there are people out there who think yelling at Gaga over how she phrased a question on Twitter should take priority over that.

The worst part, is that Gaga and honestly acting like the ideal white ally atm. Like, she took the criticism really well, and decided to educate herself, and continues to work alongside (not above) marginalized communities.

Like, I understand she will never u der stand certain struggles as a rich white woman, but if there's any celebrity who is good at being a knowledgable ally WITHOUT trying to be a "white savior", it's her.

I agree. While I agree it's exhausting to explain the facets of everyday racism (or homophobia, or sexism) to people who aren't affected by it/don't understand it, I also feel like it is our moral obligation as oppressed minority groups to power through it, if it means we can make a better present for all future generations.

Exactly. One of the main criticisms of white liberals that I see is they apparently try to speak for the black community instead of letting them do so, which I totally get. Yes you can research on your own, (and who's to say Gaga hasn't) but wouldn't asking the black community directly what they need be an example of giving them a voice and platform to be heard?

A. I am not sure why this is in the news section

B. I had to reread that womens tweets like three times to understand what she was attempting to say (wtf does WO(manchildren) stand for)?

C. If you look at the poll, 65% of people agree Gaga didnt say anything wrong

D. People just want attention attention attention.

E. If someone is reaching out to a group of people and asking what they can do to support the groups plight, why don't you just answer instead of nitpicking how they asked? This womans tweets completely took the focus away from the problem at hand and instead focused on Gaga's vernacular when she herself couldn't even form a legible tweet

If I was Gaga I'd give up on them. They're asking Gaga to pay for someone's legal fees for illegally destroying property, lashing out on her for thinking she was denying any racism happening with #thisisnotus when in reality it was the other way, saying it's her responsibility to know about black people issues when Gaga isn't black herself and wouldn't know personally what issues there are, etc. Smh.

I'm glad this is happening so that some of you start calling bullshit on anything that resembles Gaga's case from now on.

She shouldn't give up, the way she's been treated for trying to help is terrible and of course will leave many people jaded but its not worth giving up the cause over. Just need to keep pushing and ignore all the people just looking for reasons to be offended.

It's funny how people are always saying that white people are the racists, while they are also being racist towards white people too.
