Ok so Stripped is when Godtina showed us who she IS, what things are about and made us care....and stayed dirtty in the process.   So, yea, it's fantastic.

However (comma) there is a flawlessly made album in all the middle of Back To Basics that ain't basic.  THATS her true masterpiece.

But may I say, I don't get y'all when y'all talk about Lotus.   Lotus is the dance pop fire album everybody ignores.  Bionic WISHED it was Lotus.   But hey...that's just me.  I just like all that red hot kinda love 😉

I miss Xtina.  She's the one out of all them girls that has it.

Yes. I don't know why the critics disliked it so much. Such a heart-rending, autobiographical album. B2B was a good follow-up but nothing could top it. The sad thing is, the good music didn't last long. Just 8 years later, she was churning out music that was average at best (Bionic), bargain basement at worst (Lotus). She's just lost her touch and I don't know if she'll ever get it back. Maybe getting engaged and having a child since her last album might inspire something but I don't know. When she was making Lotus, he said she hadn't been this frame of mind since she wrote Stripped, but when the album was released, boy, did we realise we'd been duped. Going through a bad time usually results in a lot of artists best material, so if her big 2010 downfall couldn't inspire good music then I don't know what will. I sometimes wonder if she ever cares for making music anymore. Ever since she had her daughter, the plans she claimed to be working on seem to have fallen by the wayside. She said in 2014 that she had started work on it and in 2015 said she was working with Pharrell and it was all coming together nicely and that was the last we ever heard. My theory is that she's scrapped it and started again, or worse, scrapped it and hasn't even started anew. Lately, she seems to value The Voice and Oreo commercials over her actual music career.

Back to Basics is one of those rare albums where the love songs sound really genuine. You can tell she was so optimistic about her marriage from all the songs about how she used to be closed off and sad and now she's realized she deserves to be happy too. It's all over the first disc but I think "Understand" is the one that best exemplifies this. Her divorce was the first celebrity breakup I witnessed that ever had an impact on me. She was so excited... how could it end like that? It gives the album a bittersweet note to me on future listenings.

Totally agree with you her albums are full of too much junk. Stripped should have been stripped of all its filler. Back To Basics... I get the two sides are very different (one using a lot of samples, the other using live instrumentation), but she could have pulled a Lana or Nicki and just had the first half of the album be one style and the second the other.

Omg! Yes! That album was my sh*t when I was 16 and got me through the rougher parts of my teenage years. Very sentimental to me  ICONTIC

It definitely has a special place for me. I was 12 when it came out, and her anthems (keep in mind she was doing pro-lgbt and feminist anthems long before the other girls) were crucial to my formative years.

With all this being said, xtina's number 1 problem with all her albums is they're TOO LONG. she has great material, and then she includes all these filler songs that detract from the overall quality. Stripped does this, B2B does this, and bionic especially does this. Lotus was a good album length, but most of the songs were trash.

I truly hope xtina nails it with X6....if we ever hear it. But given her track record, i'm expecting another 22 track album, half great, half filler.

Before the other girls LOL there were plenty before her, girl.

It is daring. And she was older and know what she wants.

It is a good album. But the best, not for me. The two discs, Back To Basics is her best album to me.
